How sad is that, I looked at the online leaderboards and there is only 65 gamertags listed in the
entire world ?
I hope it is better , i'll look again later.
Actually its quite a nice game, old school and fun. The controls are not wonky, you just have to
try them for 10 minutes to get used to thrust and reversal.

I enjoyed the demo & already have a paid in full pre-order. I wonder if I should cancel it and
hang back until I hear some real world comments on it? Bummer...

Quote: The first magazine reviews are in for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and it’s all
looking a bit painful so far.According to Metacritic the four reviews so far have left an average of 68 percent.
Here’s who’s scored it:

Some of the stuff we’ve been told off the record about TFU this week really isn’t
encouraging. And we’ll leave it at that

Hey all
Just been doing some more testing with FSX on my HD4870 (8.6,8.7 & 8.8 + betas)Vs my old
8800GTS 640mb And found that my results mirror those that toms hardware has posted a week or so
ago,my specs are quite close to the system he used to test with (i have 4GB ram & a p5b mobo)so
i'll post a few pic of his results to save myself some typing
Now i know(since ive been using it since RTM)that FSX is a massively CPU limited sim/game so i was
quite suprised to find that on average my 4870 was almost 30% slow than my old 8800gts like for
like setting
Just what is it that either ATI arent doing(or maybe it's what Nv is doing)that gives a last gen
card an almost 1/3 fps advantage over a current gen card?
Is it that ATI just havent spent any time optimizing there drivers for FSX or is this some kind of
hardware limitation or architectural diffrence(looking at toms above results it seems that all of
ATI's cards are way slower in FSX than there NV counterparts)at first i thought it might be a Vram
limitaion but the card that has the lead is still only a 512mb 8800gts
Now i wanted to get away from NV because of there ****ty support for FSX(i had various NV driver
based BSOD from revision to revision running FSX) & although i find ATI's overall IQ to be a
little better in FSX the lost of 30% performance is a lot to swallow especillay when FSX hangs in
and around the mid-high 20's most of the time,I never really expected to have to lower my eyecandy
when moving up a gen of card!
I have no other complaints about peformance of the 4870 in other games it kicks the 8800gts all
over the places but as FSX is the main sim/game which i play a lot of between major game relases im
pretty disappointed in how it performs on the 4870 (btw this is not a WIMTBP title) so much so that
im thinking of returning it and trying a 280GTX
So does anyone heres whos close to ATI or who has there ear know if they entend to fix this massive
performance delta? do ATI even care that they lag behind in FSX so badly & do any of ATI's beta
testers really play FSX at all?
(im not just talking about having it handy to fire up to test fps on the tarmac either)
I hope someone can shed some light on this issue,& yes ive been reporting it via feedback since
cat 8.6,i know these things take time to get fixed(unless its a crysis bug that is then you can get
hotfixes galore)id just like to know if its being worked on?
Cheers
Gizmo

See my other thread about coop for more details, but I think that pretty much all games should have
coop. Neil, feel free to combine the threads or something.

This might apply slightly more to consoles, but I was just thinking that this might be a part of
why so few coop games are released. They think one person will buy the game and several will play
coop over lan. (Merc. 2 made me think of this, as they force you to play coop over internet)

Since installed Catalyst 8.8, I'm noting a CCC crash (reporting in Event Viewer as a .NET runtime
error). This ONLY happens when my wife logs into her WinXP account, and then I log in later ('fast
user switching' is enabled). Just leaving one of us logged in never causes this issue, and this is
new to Catalyst 8.8 (previously using Catalyst 8.6 with no error).
VISIBLE symptom is, when I log on, I see a CCC window saying 'There is no ATI card detected, or
[something to the effect of] not installed correctly'. If I acknowledge this and bring CCC up right
away, sure enough, it shows no ATI hardware - it's just info pages and such.
Give it a few minutes, and try again...and everything is fine. Event Viewer Application Error
is:
Quote: EventType clr20r3, P1 ccc.exe, P2 2.0.0.0, P3 469cdc9c, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6
471ebc5b, P7 1153, P8 0, P9 system.objectdisposedexception, P10 NIL. (Worth pointing out that CCC
is run in 'Basic' mode on her login, and 'Advanced' mode in mine. Could this be related?)
Anyone else seeing this? Any good workarounds/fixes?

To keep my case temperatures from rising as my case is maxed out in the fan department. I would
like to get a 4850 with 1 meg of ram for Grid with a fan blowing air to the outside. I looked at
the 4850's at Newegg and the aftermarket coolers, and I did not see anything. I could buy a 4870,
but with a 2.4 Ghz Intel Quad, I thought a 4870 might be overkill since I do not overclock my
system. Can somebody give me some advice or am I looking at this wrong? If the 4870 is overkill, I
suppose I could buy one and underclock it so it runs cooler and exhaust the heat to the outside.
Would that work?

I bought a WD 320gb SE16 from micro-center a few weeks ago but it turned out to be the dual platter
version and is loud as hell. So I found a used single platter version online but it had a really
high pitch whine so returned it! I'm now looking for a Seagate at Newegg but am confused with all
their different models.
I think the 7200.11 is the kind to get, but what is a Barracuda ES.2? And what are the differences
between the 640gb & 500gb models in terms of # of platters? Also I want the latest tech.
(should be quieter right?) so should I get a 32mb cache drive?
These are the ones I'm looking at:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148288 (500gb)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148335 (640gb, is this a 7200.11?)

The image quality is crap because I had to convert it to a jpg from some weird format, but you can
see the "problem" I had when I changed the chapter in NWN.

Speedfan reports my E8400, running at the stock speed of 3GHz, generates idle temps of Core 0 = 42C
and Core 1 = 40C. When I overclock to 3.6GHz, the load temps (after about 30 minutes of playing
UT3) are about Core 0 = 57C and Core 1 = 55C. I do use the little bitty piss-ant Intel stock
heatsink/cooler that came with the CPU.
Among the things I don't understand is why my E8400 runs as hot as it does. Aren't 45nm chips
supposed to run about 10C cooler by default? Also, why would one core run hotter than the other,
especially at idle? Lastly, why would Intel come out with this latest generation
of wafer-thin heatsinks for the stock cooler?
My Antec 900 case is famous for all the fans it has, and in addition to those, I also mounted a
very robust 120mm fan in the case door, because it blows straight at the video card, the
Northbridge heatsink, and, the CPU.
Maybe the problem is Speedfan, which is software I've never had too much confidence in for years,
frankly. Speedfan provided exactly the same readings on stock-speed idle even when I took the case
door off my Antec 900 and blew air straight into the case cavity, and straight at the CPU
heatsink/fan with a high-velocity three-speed Honeywell 8-inch room fan, from a distance of about
nine inches. Is there a better way to detect temperatures than with Speedfan?
According to Intel, the E8400 is rated as "safe" with temps all the way up over 70C, but, again,
why would a 45nm chip run this hot in the first place?

Hey guys,
I need a DVI Splitter, but all the ones I'm finding at NewEgg have BAD reviews, or no reviews.
Basically, I use Duel Monitors on my desktop, but want to be able to also connect my PC to an LCD
TV I'm about to purchase. So rather than having to change out the connections, I'd like to be able
to just set up a profile for it, hit the hotkey, and turn on the TV to watch movies / play
games.
So a KBM switch would work, if they make one for one PC, multiple outputs. (Kinda doubt it).
Thanks for any recommendations!

The Kingmax Super Stick.
Was hunting around for a USB stick for temporary filestore, was having the Patriot XTs in mind (not
in stock, nor available for ordering  ), but I came across this, and oh my god.
It's the size of 2 notches of your pinky.
I've seen a classmate have one previously, but until you own one you really have no idea how small
it is. Perfect for pron smuggling, spies and whatnot. :bleh:
The perfect stick- at least not the main, performance one. Waterproof (chances are it would be in
the washing machine more than lost), decent read speeds (for its price) and you can get 32GB in a
4x bundle that takes up less space than a Kingston Datatraveler.
I've spent so much on technology, but this $10 purchase awed me more than a lof of stuff.
(Yes this is 1+ year OFN but sheesh, it's still outstanding!)

Is this indeed possible? Let's say I've been accepted to take a program at a British Columbia
polytechnic university - would StudentAid BC ( http://www.aved.gov.bc.ca/studentaidbc/welcome.htm) consider taking my application if
I'm currently in Hong Kong? Or do I have to go back to British Columbia first and then submit the
application?
Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to ask, but it'll be nice if you guys provide me some
insight whether or not this can be done. StudentAid BC can only be contacted by phone (long
distance..) so why not, wouldn't hurt to ask. ;)
