Nintendo's Satoru Iwata has said that there is still potential for DS growth, despite critics
suggesting the market is saturated.
"Some say the market for the DS is saturated, but I disagree," said Iwata, speaking to the Daily
Yomiuri.
“In Japan, a country with a population of 127 million, we've sold 23 million DS units. The
United States is inhabited by over 300 million people, and there are more than 490 million people
in the European Union.
"Sales of the product could grow further in foreign countries considering their populations," he
added. There is sales potential in Europe and emerging markets such as India and Russia, said
Iwata. And while Nintendo hardware has been a runaway success in 2008, he noted that Nintendo is
monitoring the current economic downturn closely.
"The number of people playing games is rapidly increasing in Europe, where the penetration of games
had been slow. In Germany, bookstores have opened Nintendo sections and Wii software has sold
well.
"I'd also like to focus on emerging markets such as Russia and India.
"I think the game industry will keep doing well in 2009. However, the current economic recession is
something that happens only once in 50 or 100 years. We have to monitor the market very carefully,"
he said.

Hey, cube dwellers -- call your manager over and give him / her a look at this, because starting
today, conference calling will never be the same. From what we can tell, this is the world's first
Atom-powered telephone, and also the first telephone we've seen in years that we would joyously
park in our own living rooms. OpenPeak's ProFrame is an all-in-one conglomerate that handles VoIP
calling and offers up a 7-inch touchscreen panel and "an intuitive navigation menu for easy access
to contacts, instant messaging, voicemail, calendar, call logs, memos, news, stocks, weather, and
many other useful services." Sure, this critter was totally designed with the hospitality industry
in mind, but don't tell us this couldn't be molded into a wicked widgets portal for the home.

Hi,
Basically, I just got myself a psp from ebay which appears to have 2.60 firmware.
When I go to the memory stick I have 3 folders, "ISO, VIDEO and PSP"
I have been putting CSO and ISO files in the ISO folder and have managed to get a handfull of CSO
games working, but none of the ISO games???
In the "PSP" folder I have the following folders: "GAME, GAME150, GAME271(inside folder says eboots
go here), MUSIC, PHOTO, SAVEDATA and SYSTEM"
I have tried putting eboot games into the "GAME271" folder, but these don't work.
I don't really know if I am able to upgrade the software, I'm under the impression that If I click
on "update Version 2.60" I may lose the firmware and the ability to play homebrew games????
Can anyone give me advice on this firmware and How to use it ? I would just be happy to play a few
more CSO file games and some of the ISO file games !
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...Thanks,
Justin

 While one can't be
blamed for mistaking all of composer Danny
Elfman's work for sounding like his distinctive collaborations with Tim Burton, the three-time
Oscar nominee has been kicking as much ass as ever when it comes to more conventional action fare,
with work on The Kingdom, Wanted, and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, not
to mention dramas like Milk and Notorious.
So when the
MTV Movies Blog broke the news that Elfman just began scoring this summer's Terminator: Salvation, it sounded like as good
a fit as any. He doesn't promise the return of Brad Fiedel's signature theme, though he also
doesn't rule it out. Even if he sticks with a wholly original composition, I really think he'll
bring something exciting to the table, whether or not director McG manages to.
MTV also brought less surprising news that hip-hop artist Common, who starred in Wanted
and stars in this, will be contributing a track. Now I could see the beat turning up for that:
Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh -- WHAT?
Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh -- YEAH!
Y'all feelin' me? No? Well, are you at least feeling the Elfman?

Although Google keeps gaining search engine market share, people’s loyalties are far from
locked in. J.P. Morgan Internet analyst Imran Khan recently conducted a survey to see if Web
consumers would be willing to switch search engines. He found that 62 percent would. The biggest
reason that would cause them to change? Better search results (45 percent of all respondents said
this would make them switch, and 48 percent of respondents who use Google as their main engine).
The responses, in order of popularity:
Better results (45 percent).
Nothing would make me change (38 percent).
Faster response speeds to search (28 percent).
Less cluttered results (27 percent).
The ability to preview Web content (23 percent).
Less clutter on search sites (27 percent)
Results that include video, web, and music (12 percent)
Other (1 percent)
I’ve recreated the poll below so that you can take it. J.P. Morgan’s poll was only
among 766 U.S. residents. We can probably do better than that.
What Would Make You Want To Try A New Search
Engine?
( polls)
Here are some more results from J.P. Morgan’s poll, including the demographics of different
search engine users. Google attracts both the wealthiest (70 percent of people with incomes
greater than $100,000) and the youngest serachers (67 percent of people between 18 and 41).

Over at Boing Boing Offworld, Margaret Robertson looks back at Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, in which
you control the action by banging on crappy electronic drums. Margaret is the former editor of Edge
magazine and I am thrilled that she's now a regular columnist for Offworld. From "One More Go:
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat": One of the worst game ideas ever was embodied in Donkey Kong: Jungle
Beat, which is a platform game you control with a pair of cheap electric bongos. Not, please note,
a modern, newfangled, automagic platform game like Assassin’s Creed. A proper, old-fashioned
2D platformer with ledges and enemies and timed swings and all the things that make you cry out for
a nice crisp d-pad and a decently sprung jump button. Or, in the absence of those, perhaps at least
something with more than two buttons which you can operate without having to pretend to be a
toddler who just dropped a jam sandwich off his high chair. So why go back to Jungle Beat? For a
little reassuring schadenfreude that I’m not the only person who can have bad game ideas? No.
Because it’s a dazzling, dizzying delight. Bad idea; brilliant game. One More Go: Donkey Kong
Jungle Beat...br clear="both" style="clear: both;"/ br clear="both" style="clear: both;"/ a
