height="432" / As a break from all this CES news, let's talk about robotsmdash;specifically, which
countries are chock full of them. Unsurprisingly, Japan has the densest robot population, with 295
industrial automatons per every 10,000 workers. /p pPerhaps a little more eyebrow-raising is
Singapore's place on the list, which beat out South Korea by five robots per 10K workers for the
number two spot. What? /p pFirst off, Singapore is tiny and isn't really known for its
manufacturing capabilities...where are these robots and what are they doing? Spying on the people
to make sure they aren't chewing gum or something, I bet./p pSecondly, what gives South Korea? You
make all this fuss about a

As far as video on the iPhone goes, YouTube is really the only viable option. There are a few
up-and-coming apps like Joost, Livestation,
CBS
EyeMobile, Sling, Poptiq and
Qik,
but it’s fairly undeveloped terrain.
A more
built-up space is TV and movie listings, and one such app from a young Palo Alto,
Calif.-based startup brings the two together. i.TV is trying to
provide an iPhone-specific
dashboard for all sorts of entertainment information and content, and it has already made
integrations that allow users to add movies they look up directly to their Netflix queues, for
example.
We chatted with i.TV’s VP of marketing Justin
Whittaker on the floor at Macworld this week, where Apple had given the startup a developer
booth. He told us that the angel-funded startup, which has 15 employees with development in Utah,
has already struck up advertising deals with movie studios, and is in meetings now to integrate
further with consumer electronics companies and content makers. He declined to give specific user
numbers, but said the company has millions of users, many of them active. i.TV is currently the
55th-most popular free app in the iTunes store. That’s pretty impressive, given that the
company was only founded last April and doesn’t even have a web version of its product.
i.TV may be small, but it’s possible it could use this momentum to become a one-stop shop
for video content on the iPhone frontier.

I bought the IR-1050 travel charger from MacMall when I bought my new iPod Touch. When I had it
plugged in today I noticed something strange. While the iPod is plugged into the wall the touch
screen starts acting funky. When I try flipping through pages on the home screen it sometimes gets
caught in the middle and when I tried to power it off I couldn't slide the slider all the way to
the right until I unplugged it. None of this happens if I charge off of my macbook.
Is this just because it charges faster or should I not be using this? It outputs 5.2V at 700mA, is
that in the 'safe' range for charging my iPod?
I'm an American living in Australia and i have an Australian iPhone. I might be moving back to the
states soon. If i unlock my Aussie iPhone can it work with AT&T in the US?

MySpace,
like YouTube, is holding a contest to send one MySpace user to the World Economic Forum
in Davos, Switzerland later this month.
MySpace has teamed with the Wall Street Journal on the contest, which is fascinating because (I
imagine) there is exactly zero overlap between the stuffy WSJ readership and the hip, chaotically
cool MySpace crowd. But they are sister companies under the mammoth News Corp., so maybe they
thought it was a good idea to partner up.
Anyhow, the contest will give make one MySpace user a “special correspondent” to the
prestigious event. The winner will be chosen by a panel of experts and given a press pass to
Davos. Details are here.

Right now I've got the 23" Cinema display. Great monitor but I have a yearning for a 30. I can pick
one up used for about a grand shipped. I figure I can sell the 23 for around $500, so that's $500
out of pocket.
Anyone moved up from 23 to 30 and want to share their experiences?
Just curious what the general thoughts were on buying :apple:TV now or waiting.
If it is going to be more than 2 months out before an update, I'd rather just buy now. Hoping Apple
will give a software update to :apple:TV if they come out with newer versions of the device.
What do you think? Buy :apple:TV now or wait?
Also how is the video quality on a 42" HDTV? Just curious.
Hi, how can I change the slide to unlock text? I am using a Mac, and have 2.2 jailbreak. I am
trying to make custom text for the theme I am using. I need to know a way without using customize.
Is there a way to do this in the same manner I replace the slider and such through Cyberduck and
OpenSSH? Thank you.
I have to take my MacPro in because I believe this thing is supposed to be quiet and I can hear my
fans running loud and fast constantly. That said, I refuse to hand over my machine with my personal
data. I was considering swapping the 500GB drive in bay #1 with a 1TB drive that I have sitting in
a box. Can I use the restore discs that came with my MacPro to install Leopard onto the new drive?
If not, can I back up my 500GB (stock) drive using Time Machine, turn time machine off, reinstall
OSX so it's essentially wiped, then upon return of my machine can I go back into TM and get back
all my apps and such?
All I care about is not sending the machine with a hard drive full of stuff and ensuring my data is
backed up so I can easily stick it back onto my drive.
Just got my iPod touch, and I'm wondering if this is possible. (I tried searching through MRoogle,
Google, and other places.)
If I try to DL a zip file or a movie file on my touch, I get a message saying "Safari cannot
download this file." Can it not DL the file b/c the touch cannot be utilized as a disk out of the
box? If I downloaded something like Air Sharing would Safari then be able to DL files for access
later?

iLuv already dropped a bundle of iPod alarm clock / speaker
systems here at CES, so it follows logic for yet another "i" company to dole out a helping of its
own. Kicking things off is the iP29 portable speaker case, and stepping up the excitement level
from zilch to one is the iP49 rechargeable audio system with alarm clock / FM radio for iPod and
iPhone. Lastly, the iHMP5 two-in-one stereo speaker / headphone system enables users to listen in
private or enter into "full speaker mode" for the posse to tune in. As with most everything else
announced here at CES, pricing and availability have yet to be revealed.
