The 54-story tower planned to house The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Los Angeles and JW Marriott when it
opens in 2010 will also include an 8,000 sq ft screen on its eastern face, without disrupting the
view of guests inside. The result of a deal between property owners AEG and sponsor Panasonic, the
50-foot by 160-foot screen will live in the neighborhood of the new
Yankee Stadium and the
Dallas Cowboys new home. No word on the exact res, but there will no doubt be plenty of HD as
the entire complex, including Staples Center and Nokia Theatre, is getting Panasonic screens
installed as part of the deal. Our reservations are already in, check after the break for an
illustration of the future layout.

Israeli troops repeatedly shelled a house to which more than 100 Palestinians had been evacuated by
the Israeli military, the UN said today./ppThe UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian
Affairs (OCHA), said it was "one of the gravest incidents since the beginning of operations"
against Hamas militants in Gaza by the Israeli military on 27 December./ppOCHA said the incident
took place on 4 January, a day after Israel began its ground offensive in Gaza./ppAccording to
testimonies gathered by the UN, Israeli soldiers evacuated around 110 Palestinians to a
single-storey house in Zeitoun, south-east Gaza. The evacuees were instructed to stay indoors for
their own safety but 24 hours later the Israeli army shelled the house with rockets. Around half
the Palestinians sheltering in the house were children, OCHA said./ppThe OCHA report does not
accuse Israel of a deliberate act but calls for an investigation./ppAmong the dead were six members

Hi,
I'd really appreciate any help with this as my 11 month old iMac has hit a big problem!
I turned it on the other night only to see it boot to a flashing blue screen. The screen has a
mouse pointer but nothing to click/select. The mac stays like this and never progresses. After
doing some searching I've tried the following...
1) Reset the PVram - no luck
2) Tried booting in safe mode. I get a login window but it won't let me log in. Usually my mac is
set to boot straight in to Leopard and I do not have a user password. Leaving the password box
blank and trying to log in doesnt work.
3) I inserted the leopard install disc and did an archive/reinstall. All went though ok but again
after a restart it asks me for a password. I tired my blank password as usual - no luck!
4) Using utilities by booting off the leopard install disc I reset my password, this time to an 8
digit password. I restarted again and tried logging in with new password, but again it won't log
in!
5) I'm currently doing a full time machine restore to see if this fixes it but I don't hold out any
hope.
Anyone got any ideas? If it helps I'm using an early 2008 alu imac 20 inch with 2.0 ghz intel adn
2gb ram.
Thanks so much in advance!
Dan

width="1" height="1" //divpThe NHS must condemn the death of a vulnerable patient who starved to
death in hospital after 26 days without being properly fed, a charity said today./ppThe death of
Martin Ryan, 43, who died after not being fitted with a feeding tube, is among six "premature"
deaths of patients with learning difficulties which the charity Mencap said the NHS watchdog, the
health service ombudsman, must condemn in a report later this month./ppRyan, who had Down's
syndrome, was admitted to a hospital in Kingston-upon-Thames after suffering a stroke that made it
difficult for him to swallow, but a "total breakdown in communication" between doctors and nurses
meant he was never fitted with a feeding tube./ppThe other cases included that of Emma Kemp, 26,
who had difficulty in communicating and was denied cancer treatment that could have saved her life.
Doctors said they had been unable to treat her properly because she was unable to consent./ppMark
Cannon, 30, died two months after being admitted to hospital with a broken leg. His father
discovered that hospital staff had failed to give him replacement epilepsy medication during his
initial operation./ppThe other deaths followed similar patterns of ignored warnings or problems
missed until too late, mainly due to the patients having learning difficulties, Mencap said. Mark
Goldring, the charity's chief executive, told the Daily Mail that the health service ombudsman's
report "must condemn" the failings in the cases./ppHe said: "Our report exposed the horrific deaths
of six people with a learning disability who died unnecessarily in NHS care. We have fought and
will continue to fight for justice for their families./pp"The ombudsman's reports must condemn the
appalling failings of the NHS in these six cases. They need to make it impossible for people with a
learning disability to continue to die unnecessarily. A failure to do this would be irrational and
perverse./pp"The reports have a duty to challenge complacency, where it has been shown to exist in
the health service, when treating people with a learning disability."/ppThe charity said the six
cases demonstrated that there was institutional discrimination within the NHS against people with
learning difficulties./ppThe ombudsman's office declined to comment before the publication of its
report into the cases later this month./pdiv style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom:

img class=face src=http://planet.ubuntu.com/heads/markvdb.png alt= spanspanIn this post, I'll show
you how to set up secure ftp (SFTP) access to your Ubuntu server. Instructions for Debian are
_very_ similar: leave out the sudo part and follow these steps as root:/spanbr /br /spanFor this to
work, you'll need Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid, Debian 5.0 Lenny or newer. In this example, mark is the
user that can gain superuser rights through sudo. peter and a few other users are the ones I want
to give sftp access to their personal folder, but not shell access or anything else.br //spanbr
/spanStep 1: If it doesn't exist yet, create a group for the users you want to have sftp access
only:/spanbr /mark@neuskeutel:~$ sudo groupadd sftponlybr /br /spanStep 2: Add user mark to this
group:/spanbr /mark@neuskeutel:~$ sudo adduser peter sftponlybr /br /spanStep 3: Install
openssh-server if it's not installed yet./spanbr /mark@neuskeutel:~$ sudo apt-get install
openssh-serverbr /br /spanStep 4: Open the default OpenSSH server configuration for editing:/spanbr
/mark@neuskeutel:~$ sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_configbr /br /spanStep 5: Change the default sftp
server from:/spanbr /spanSubsystem sftp /usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server/spanspanbr /br /spanto/spanbr
//spanspanSubsystem sftp internal-sftpbr /br //spanspanStep 6: Some users can only use sftp, but
not other OpenSSH features like remote login. Let's create a rule for that group of users (we'll
create the group afterwards). Add the following section to the bottom of
/etc/ssh/sshd_config:/spanspanbr //spanspanMatch group sftponlybr / ChrootDirectory /home/%ubr /
X11Forwarding nobr / AllowTcpForwarding nobr / ForceCommand internal-sftpbr /br //spanspanStep 7:
Pass ownership of peter's directory you want to be sftp accessible to the superuser:/spanspanbr
/mark@neuskeutel:~$ sudo chown root.root /home/peterbr /br //spanspanspanStep 8: Now we change
peter's home directory (normally /home/peter) to /:/spanbr //spanspansudo usermod -d / peterbr /br
/spanStep 9: Repeat steps 2, 7 and 8 for any other users that you want to give sftp access./spanbr
/br /spanDid you find this tutorial helpful? Any problems when trying to follow it? Suggestions?
Please comment and I'll try to follow up!/spanbr //span/span

Surf's Up! But with less fun, fun, fun in the dirty oceans and on the beaches of today. To bring
some attention to this ocean pollution, and to show how very disgusting this stuff really is, the
Surfrider Foundation teamed up with advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi LA and created
'Catch of the Day'. Trash was collected from the beaches around the U.S. and than packaged like sea
food and left on display at various farmer's markets, complete with tag stickers. The campaign is
site-specific and gives consumers an actual insight on consumption behaviour. Hopefully, creating
awareness, to realise that trash isn't someone else's problem. Click here to see all Catches Of The
