This completely bizarre scenario could theoretically become a reality according to new research from a professor at Texas A&M University, and it's all thanks to the magic of nanoscale piezoelectrics. If you'll recall, we've seen this technology generate energy in wearable devices before, so it makes sense that sound wave energy could also be captured and converted into electricity. The final version for Rescue: the Beagles was released just today, and it was also hinted that Linux and Mac ports are currently in the works as well. Changes and additions include:

Daniel Remar's Iji will also be getting a substantial update in the form of a new version soon (numbered 1.3). Documented changes include customizable weapon cycling keys, pacifist modifiers which allow players to complete the game with zero kills, script improvements and a couple of minor bug fixes.

YouTube has partnered up with music licensing startup Rumblefish to enable users to add fully licensed songs from its 25,000 tracks strong catalog of independent artists to videos. Users can add the songs through the AudioSwap feature, giving them a much broader choice than was the case until now.

To use the feature, just pick any uploaded video and browse the provided audio library. You’ll get a preview, and with the click of a button YouTube will start processing the request. Note that adding a song will completely replace the current audio from the video.

Rumblefish’s catalog includes everything from ambient, metal, experimental and electronica to the classics and full orchestral scores. Just don’t use it to cheat on the YouTube Symphony Orchestra competition.
