 With day
zero of the Age of the Storm (well,
Verizon's day zero, anyway) now behind us, it's probably a good idea to pause for a moment, take a
deep breath, and reflect on what just went down. First and foremost, we're hearing that stock
levels are pretty bleak at the moment in many areas; in some cases, stores didn't get as many
Storms as they'd been expecting, leading to speedy sell-outs. Some of those that were able
to snatch a scarce unit were met with activation issues, Verizon's servers seemingly meeting the
same fate
as AT&T's and Apple's on iPhone 3G launch day. Will the situation improve? We can only
imagine -- but it's hard to say just how long it'll take before you'll be able to stroll into the
store (or shady mall kiosk) of your choice and score a Storm sight unseen, especially in light of
the
firmware drama unfolding before our very eyes. In the meantime, owners (and hopefuls, too),
keep sending in your reports from the field!
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

the good old story: pc user goes Mac ;)
only question remaining: what to buy?
use:
photo edit:
stitching raw files, editing medium and large format scans (16bit files). so file sizes from about
20 to 400mb input and 200 to 800 mb after postproduction
the moneybag is filled with about 2000 euros :o
so it's either a fast imac (3.06 ghz & 4gig ram) or a basic mac pro ( quad 2.8 ghz , 4 gig ram
& geforce 8800)
which will work the best with PS CS3 / 4?
i'm guessing 2 3.06ghz working cpus are better then 2 (or 6) idling 2.8 ones ...
what about the upcomming mac pro's... any change there will be a basic +/- 2000 euro model?
so manny q's
ps: keeping my Eizo monitor eitherway ;)

I've had this issue for ages now and not got to the bottom of it, having a boring sunday so going
to try and get windows working to play a few games. Anyway the problem is when i try to install
windows it gets stuck on the screen which says 'setup is starting windows'
Another problem is when i restart my mac it doesn't restart it powers down etc but the hard drive
just keeps spinning and it never reboots i have to force it.
All the threads i have found on setup is starting windows have not proven helpful, i've got a mbp
c2d and the windows is legit.
Any ideas macworld?

After updating to 2.2 my battery lasts longer, push seems to be working more consistent. It even
fixed chat in the facebook app which has NEVER worked. All my app's using the internet for
communication see to work more solidly. Contacts and SMS are loading almost instantly (compared to
the pseudo fast load they used to do)... everything makes this feel like a solid phone now.
I feel like this is the update 2.1 was supposed to be, but took 2 months to make solid. All the
other little tweaks and stuff are icing... to make sure we arent mad this is mainly a service
release. Now I feel like Push services can be openned up for beta and worked on by developers...
and my battery will make it through the day.
Anyone else feel this way or am I the only one?

Hi I've been reading these forums for quiet awhile and they have all been very helpful.
Sometime this week I'm going to upgrade my current MacBook 13" 2GHz to a 15" MacBook Pro.
The only thing is I would just like to know which of the 2.53GHz or 2.4GHz would be better for me.
If I run Photoshop on my current 13" my fans go like crazy, laptop runs very very hot. So my
question is will I notice much of a difference between the 2.53GHz or 2.4GHz for programs such a
Photoshop?
Thanks Heaps,
Steve

I have installed MySQL .0.67 in my Mac Book Pro OS X 1.5 and followed the MySQL site instructions
for *.dmg.However I must have missed something because after starting the server thru the System
Preferences Mysql pane (it says "MySQL ...is running" but when I open a Terminal session, I have
always that message for every command:
-bash: mysql: command not found (even when I am inside the bin directory)
and in a php test aplication I got the following message:
mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using
password: NO)
I am a new MAC user so may be it is something too obvious but I am trying and trying and nothing
happens .
Can anyone help me pleeeeease?
Thanks Maria

Hi!
I was recently on a trip to the US and i had a new video camera with me. I used a SDHD memory card.
Suddenly the card needs to be reformatted and I cant use it if I dont. I havent done anything to
the memory card yet as I was hoping I could find something to recover all the video clips. Ive
tried the demo of a program called Stellar and it did find all the files. So I was wondering if
anyone knows of a free program that will do the same? I have had a look around but cant seem to
find anything free :)
Thank you for your help!!
