Comme je le disais dans une note précédente les choses sérieuses vont enfin pouvoir commencer. En général lorsqu’un phénomène nouveau émerge on echaine les étapes suivantes : extase et dispersion des initiatives même si ça n’apporte rien, rejet (car on a fait n’importe quoi avant et qu’en plus c’est bien de suivre la mode de ceux qui se mettent à critiquer) puis utilisation efficace et raisonnée.

Dans ce sens l’avantage de la crise, ramenée à l’entreprise 2.0, c’est qu’elle met définitivement un point d’arrêt à la première phase et va réduire la seconde à sa portion congrue car comme je l’expliquais ici il va falloir vite se concentrer sur des enjeux d’efficacité et mettre en place ce qu’il faut, peu importe le nom que ça porte.

Même si cela peut en choquer certains j’ai toujours trouvé qu’en général les contributions les plus intéressantes sur l’entreprise 2.0 venaient non pas du monde du 2.0 mais des professionnels de l’entreprise, bien qu’il y ait quelques heureuses exceptions. Normal, car par définition même, les uns essaient de trouver un espace d’expression pour des outils en rupture avec des modes de fonctionnement traditionnels alors que les autres essaient simplement de résoudre des problématiques business. Fort heureusement nous étions et sommes toujours dans un contexte où les deux se rejoignent.

Maintenant où cela nous mène-t-il ?

J’avais écrit il y a une bonne année que la grande différence entre l’entreprise et le web grand public et que ce dernier a pu se créer ses buts, ses règles alors que l’entreprise, elle, a déjà les siens et qu’il ne s’agit en aucun de les changer. Bien sur il y aura une évolution des pratiques mais la finalité ultime, produire, reste la même et c’est une donnée trop souvent oubliée. Tout ce qu’on peut faire de fantastique grâce à des outils web 2.0 n’a absolument aucune valeur s’il n’impacte pas, au final, la production et la création de valeur.

Bien sur il y a des pratiques qui doivent évoluer, l’entreprise web 2.0 répondant avant tout à une logique de transformation managériale et organisationnelle et les structures actuelles n’étant plus aussi efficaces qu’avant pour créer de la valeur, changement de contexte oblige. Mais ne nous trompons pas d’approche et prenons le problème par le bon bout : ça n’est pas à l’entreprise de s’adapter pour faire une place aux outils nouveaux mais aux outils de venir servir des pratiques nouvelles visant à davantage d’efficacité. Dans un cas on aura de la valeur et du ROI, dans l’autre une vague et inutile confusion, finalement improductive. C’est au 2.0 de motoriser l’entreprise, pas à elle de lui donner une raison de vivre.

Bref l’outil ne vaut qu’au sein d’un “framework” adapté. Lequel framework pourrait bien ressembler à une wirearchie ou une SOO. Et la pression accrue sur l’efficacité qui est le corolaire de la crise risque bien d’être le détonateur tant attendu, celui dont Hamel et McKinsey parlaient ici. Et c’est aux acteurs du 2.0 (que j’espère ne plus voir nommé ainsi à l’avenir) de comprendre l’entreprise et non à l’entreprise de s

Je terminerai en vous citant la conclusion de ce très bon billet de Sigurd Rinde qui reprend peu ou ou prou les idées que j’ai pu développer par le passé et illustre la barrière quasi culturelle qui peut exister entre le monde du web et celui de l’entreprise. A Dennis Howlett qui venait de commettre un article sur le blog de Chris Bogan s’interrogeant sur la réalité même du phénomène web 2.0, Tim O’Reilly répond “Dennis, cette note démontre une choquante d’ignorance de ce qu’est le web 2.0. C’est une migration vers l’internet en tant que plateforme”. Bien entendu je comprend ce que cela veut dire et il y a une part de vérité. Quiconque commence à “migrer” ses activités sur le net comprend ce que cela veut dire de faire partie d’un écosystème permettant l’intéraction et le partage permanent et les gains associés. Mais c’est un discours que l’entreprise n’est tout d’abord pas capable de comprendre à l’heure qu’il est et, de plus, c’est un discours qui n’a aucun sens pour elle. Ce qui peut avoir du sens pour moi en tant que particulier “power user” n’en aura pas forcément lorsque je met ma casquette de manager à défaut de savoir d’abord comment je peux que mes équipes travaillent et, ensuite, mettre les outils et les pratiques en cohérence. J’ajouterai que pour le particulier il s’agit d’une migration individuelle qui amène à rejoindre un collectif alors que dans le cadre d’une entreprise c’est tout un collectif qu’il faut faire migrer d’une manière cohérente. L’internet en tant que plateforme (ou intranet ou extranet selon le bon vouloir de la DSI et les contraintes de sécurité qu’elle met en place) ne saurait être un fin en soi, un but. C’est un moyen qui peut être, ou non, pertinent par rapport à la manière dont on décide d’organiser le travail. Et c’est par là que l’entreprise doit commencer : les pratiques au service du business, ensuite les outils viendront légitimement.

Sigurd écrivait donc :

Cette réponse porte en elles les bases de ce que doit être le 2.0 appliqué à l’entreprise : des outils intégrés au sein d’une suite cohérente donc permettant d’effectuer plus d’une seule tâche et positionnés de manière à rendre plus simples l’execution des tâches et missions quotidiennes. Les outils web 2.0 ne sont pas des outils de process en soi mais ont un grand rôle à jouer pour tout ce qui est des intéractions autours du process.
