Im trying to figure out how to capture video from an old video camera to my mac to put them on dvds
and keep a digital copy to preserve my family's memories. But the thing is i can't seem to find the
right device that will help me do it. It's and old camera that records onto tape, it has a cable
that can output the video to an Composite AV Connection (Red, White, Yellow). Can anyone give me a
link to something that will help me do it so i can capture the movies into iMovie? Please, this is
very important.
Vejam e
With October the 14th less than 2 days away, I'm obviously planning to get a MacBook Pro before
Christmas so I can finally get rid of this broken piece of crap I'm using now, which has a broken
screen, broken keys, broken right-mouse click, can't play music and use any other program at the
same time and 10 minutes of battery life (no joke... I dunno how either..)
So I need to start picking my MBP. I was thinking 17" screen with 2.5 Ghz
(£140 more for 0.1 extra Ghz... no chance..) and 4GB RAM and 250GB HDD.
But one option which I still can't decide on... Glossy or Matte screen?
YouTube videos don't help, nor posts on other forums. Let me try and elaborate more:
What I'm using it for.
Probably:
School Work.
Watching DVDs.
Photoshopping.
Coding with XCode.
iTunes.
Logic Pro 8.
Maybe a game like X-Plane.
And of course, surfing the web.
Where I'll be using it.
Most likely, my bedroom. I've taken pictures and uploaded them below, showing you the exact
positioning of my computer at the moment (which has a glossy screen, I suppose... but it reflects
light.)
Other places will be in my college which has a brightly-lit indoor area with windows everywhere
(even on the ceiling) and in my back garden if it gets hot in the Summer next year.
I've also never seen a Matte screen in real life... I can imagine the feel of it. If you'd like to
post photos of your Macs, I urge you to please. Try and get a few angles of it so you can see where
light's reflecting from and anything else that might help me.
Is there a program that will convert divx files for use on my iPhone? I know Handbreak works for
DVDs but is there any way to possibly use that programs for DIVX as well? Thanks.
Walt Disney Co., the second-largest U.S. media company, forecast sales of high-definition Blu-ray
discs in the U.S. will overtake DVDs within two years.
Consumers will adopt the new technology "much sooner than we think," David Jessen, Disney
vice-president of Blu-ray and DVD creative production, said in an interview. "It's right on the
verge of becoming really big in the U.S., where in two years Blu-ray will eclipse DVDs."
In February, the Blu-ray disc technology won against Toshiba Corp.'s HD DVD, setting the new
high-definition standard in the entertainment industry's largest format war since VHS beat Betamax
in the 1980s. Blu-ray discs can store 50 gigabytes of data, about six times more than conventional
DVDs.
Disney is releasing classic movies including Sleeping Beauty this month in the Blu-ray format to
encourage consumers to start using the new technology.
The film is the first release to include the BD-Live network system, enabling viewers in different
locations to chat and create communities while watching the same movie, Disney said.
Shopping for HD-TVs and Blu-ray players will help the technology "take off big" after the holiday
season, Jessen said. "Prices of HD-TVs are coming down everywhere" and those of Blu-ray discs "will
also drop as mass adoption takes over."
On September 30 at the Steve Allen Theater in Los Angeles, fans of Norwegian black metal had the
unique opportunity to attend an exclusive, advanced screening of footage from DIMMU BORGIR's The
Invaluable Darkness DVD, a three-disc package of 2 DVDs plus a bonus audio CD scheduled for North
American release on October 14, 2008.
I've tried encoding several of my kid's DVDs to use in my Apple TV. On many of them, after I enter
the source (the DVD drive), it scans the source. Then after it does the last one, handbrake shuts
down.
It seems to occur when there are many "tracks" it scans - like 21 or 24. The movies with only 3 or
4 it does no problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? Thanks.

I just purchased a new 16:9 widescreen tv and I watch my dvds through my macbook using the vga
input on my tv. However the widescreen movies are not taking up the full screen. There are the 2
black lines as if I was watching it on a 4:3 tv. Is this caused my settings on mac's dvd player? I
don't seem to have the problem watching movies I downloaded off of itunes. so I'm thinking it's the
dvd player settings. How can I fix this?
When Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR were in Los Angeles late last month for a
screening of their DVD, The Invaluable Darkness, MTV's Headbanger's Blog hooked up with guitarist
Silenoz (real name: Sven Atle Kopperud) and talked about the encapsulating might of the new DVDs,
the value of darkness, the lineup changes for the band's current tour, the Blackest of the Black
tour and
