Several readers noted the release of Mono 2.0, which is compatible with Microsoft's .NET Framework
2.0. According to Miguel de Icaza, "...users can move over server applications built for .NET and
client applications built with Windows Forms." InternetNews points out that only about half of the
.NET apps out there will work on Mono 2.0, for a variety of reasons including (but not limited to)
legacy Windows-only libraries and Microsoft's progress on .NET 3.0 and 3.5 APIs.pa

Shepherd, A. J.br/Journal: BMC Bioinformaticsbr/br/ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: An increasing number of
scientific research projects require access to large-scale computational resources. This is
particularly true in the biological field, whether to facilitate the analysis of large
high-throughput data sets, or to perform large numbers of complex simulations - a characteristic of
the emerging field of systems biology. RESULTS: In this paper we present a lightweight generic
framework for combining disparate computational resources at multiple sites (ranging from local
computers and clusters to established national Grid services). A detailed guide describing how to
set up the framework is available from the following URL:
http://igrid-ext.cryst.bbk.ac.uk/portal_guide/. CONCLUSIONS: This approach is particularly (but not
exclusively) appropriate for large-scale biology projects with multiple collaborators working at
different national or international sites. The framework is relatively easy to set up, hides the
complexity of Grid middleware from the user, and provides access to resources through a single,
uniform interface. It has been developed as part of the European ImmunoGrid project.br/br/post to:

Canada...

Publication Date: 2008 Dec PMID: 18459041br/Authors: Rempe, M. J. - Spruston, N. - Kath, W. L. -
Chopp, D. L.br/Journal: J Comput Neuroscibr/br/Since their inception, computational models have
become increasingly complex and useful counterparts to laboratory experiments within the field of
neuroscience. Today several software programs exist to solve the underlying mathematical system of
equations, but such programs typically solve these equations in all parts of a cell (or network of
cells) simultaneously, regardless of whether or not all of the cell is active. This approach can be
inefficient if only part of the cell is active and many simulations must be performed. We have
previously developed a numerical method that provides a framework for spatial adaptivity by making
the computations local to individual branches rather than entire cells (Rempe and Chopp, SIAM
Journal on Scientific Computing, 28: 2139-2161, 2006). Once the computation is reduced to the level
of branches instead of cells, spatial adaptivity is straightforward: the active regions of the cell
are detected and computational effort is focused there, while saving computations in other regions
of the cell that are at or near rest. Here we apply the adaptive method to four realistic neuronal
simulation scenarios and demonstrate its improved efficiency over non-adaptive methods. We find
that the computational cost of the method scales with the amount of activity present in the
simulation, rather than the physical size of the system being simulated. For certain problems
spatial adaptivity reduces the computation time by up to 80%.br/br/post to: a href =

There new features discovered in iPhone OS 2.2 Beta for developers
Quote: It seems that Apple is taking further care in hiding new iPhone features in their beta
releases. The most recent firmware beta seeded to developers listed "compatibility testing" in its
release notes as the only change.
We've since heard of a couple of new features buried within the iPhone 2.2 beta. Apple has
apparently made underlying changes to the iPhone's frameworks that are not yet exposed to the end
user. These findings include:
- Support for Japanese emoji icons (screenshot) -- a popular feature for Japanese phones. The lack
of emoji support has been blamed as part of the reason for slow iPhone adoption in Japan.
- Support for Google Street View for the Google Maps application. Street View allows users to view
panoramic street level photographs in select cities within the Google Maps application. The feature
was recently demoed on Google's Android phone.
Finally, Apple has also addressed one common request within the iPhone's Keyboard settings,
allowing users to disable the iPhone's auto-correction.
Apple has not yet announced when the iPhone 2.2 firmware will be available.
I wonder if emotes (emoji) can be used out side of Japan ;] this feature could be cool even for US
and Europe ppl
If there was such topic, then sorry but i'm not plan to search every 2000 keywords possible to make
single topic o.o
