IGN Writes: Call it science fiction survival horror, but Dead Space does the genre proud with an
engaging story; action that's tense, fast-paced and extremely violent; as well as atmospheric
qualities that will get under your skin and make you jump. It may be a newcomer, but the seeds of
an incredible franchise have been sown, and EA's in a great position to reap a phenomenal franchise
full of scares. If you like survival horror, action or sci-fi, Dead Space needs to be on your
radar.
I have searched the forums and found a few answers, tried it out but didn't really help. Some
answers were related the older MBPs and some were just wrong.
COD4 in Boot Camp, what are you settings so you get a good frame rate for multiplayer while
retaining the awesome GFX?
When I go above 1280 wide (AA 2x) I start to get lag when turning (especially noticeable when
sprinting).
Some people keep saying that they run COD4 maxed out on their MBPs.
Mine is 17" 2.5 7200RPM with the same defective GFX cards we all have chosen to live with
P.s. It runs when maxed out - but slow, especially when turning or one encounters a smoke
grenade.
In summary, what are your MBP COD4 settings for optimal gameplay?
So, apparently the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark is so radically different from the 360 version,
that it merits a brand new title. Eden Studios has tried its best to appease critics of the
original release by taking their feedback and rolling it into this new premium PS3 edition. Alone
in the Dark: Inferno, as it will be called when it finally launches on PS3, is the definitive
version of the game. Not only will it have better controls, but it will even have additional
gameplay in the form of an extra chapter.
We have preview code waiting for us back in the US. Once we get our hands on it, you'll certainly
find out if Eden Studios was successful. Trailer is embedded after the break. (You must be 18 or
older to watch -- it's an M rated game, y'know.)

The Starcraft 2 gameplay panel was an eventful one at Blizzcon today. The developers faced an
obstacle when designing the game; the plans they had were just too massive to implement in a single
game on anything approaching a reasonable timeline. Their solution was to divide the game up into
three separate, stand-along titles: Terran: Wings of Libery, Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, and Protoss:
Legacy of the Void. Read on for further details.pa

Since the launch of the iPhone App Store, we’ve seen a
wave of geo-aware social networks that make use of the phone’s GPS (or in the case of
the original iPhone, pseudo-GPS). Each of these apps aims to help facilitate social interaction
by locating nearby friends, points of interest, or people you might be interested in meeting (but
might not know yet). There’s little doubt that some incarnation of one of these apps will
help shape the future
of social networking, but there’s still a huge geo-aware market that has yet to be
tapped: Games.
Parallel
Kingdom, launching at the end of the month, is set to become one of the first massively
multiplayer online games (MMO) to hit the iPhone platform and Android platforms (both platforms
will share the same in-game network). MMO’s have been tremendously popular on personal
computers with mega-hits like World of Warcraft, and have proven to be lucrative with
subscription models that feed off their addicting gameplay. Parallel Kingdom is hoping to take
this success to a mobile platform.
At first glance, Parallel Kingdom doesn’t seem very impressive - at least from a visual
stance. The game’s interface consists of basic sprites that are overlaid on top of a Google
Map. Each icon depicts a player character, an enemy, or an item. But while the game could use
some drastic graphical modifications (especially given the 3D games already available on the
iPhone), the technology and concept behind it is where the real excitement lies.
The game uses your phone’s GPS to detect your movement across the map, and each change in
physical location corresponds to a change in the game’s location. For example, our local
Starbucks might be shown to be infested with monsters, but a drive down the street may reveal an
area loaded with riches and friendly characters. And while the game uses physical location to
determine your in-game location on a macro-level, you’re still allowed to move within a
designated area without having to leave your seat (you could explore a few blocks around your
workplace without having to leave the office).
For now your actions are pretty limited: you can pick items (like weapons or gold) off the
ground, talk to people, and attack things. The game currently lacks a skill or level system, so
all combat is dictated by how much you’ve upgraded a weapon. This may be fun for a while,
but the game won’t be nearly as addictive as World of Warcraft until it implements more
advanced leveling systems, giving users an incentive to play more often (the game’s
Director Justin Beck says that these features are on the way). The game is going to be free at
launch, with plans to release a subscription based version in the future once the game’s
feature set is more fleshed out.
I think Parallel Kingdom and similar games have a chance to be huge - perhaps even more popular
than the social networks described above. While geo-enabled social networks may be fun for
networking and dating, many people will probably only use them casually. Online games have the
potential to be much more addictive, and lucrative (most games can charge around $15 a month).
That said, I think if Parallel Kingdom is going to be the game to really break this market open,
it will need to adopt an entirely new graphics engine that can leverage the iPhone and
Android’s power to display the 3D graphics these gamers are accustomed to.

It was revealed at Blizzcon 2008 that the Wizard class will be making a return in Diablo 3. These videos show first looks at how the class will play in
the upcoming, highly anticipated, action RPG. The gameplay trailers are a little show plenty of
action and powerful spells.
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto,
Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of
the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both the High Heavens and the Burning Hells, has been
destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct
character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new
and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the
horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor
-- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris. Diablo 3 will be released
for both Mac and PC. (Screenshot 1 of 52)

Filed under: Screens Capcom has sent out a set of screens of the DS version of Neopets Puzzle Adventure, one of our most anticipated games in spite of an
unfamiliar license. The screens feature some of the Neopets that you can create as
avatars, if that matters.
Also notable: one of the Petpet abilities, which forces the opposing player to place a tile in a
set location. These abilities are, to us, the most important addition to the Othello-based
gameplay, as they allow players to do something to change the tide of the game other than
placing tiles. This one also happens to be a lil' Pegasus. That's pretty excellent.
The minigames, which include things like drawing icons quickly, give us a bit of fear about how
this will turn out. But we trust Infinite Interactive, Griptonite, and Capcom to deliver the Neopets game we've been waiting for. By
which we mean one that we are interested in to some degree.
