Nightmare. This may just be a massive unhappy coincidence but I just temporarrily removed the HDMI
cable from my HTPC to plug in a laptop for testing. Then plugged the cable back in and had my
normal HTPC display back. Moments later the display went black and a little later I could smell
that horrible hot/burning electronics smell.
Turned PC off at wall but no joy on restart. 3 red lights on the back of the 4870. Left it off for
4 mins, same issue. Will try the motherboard integrated graphics to make sure everything else
workign ok but seems odd it all happened at the same time as unplugging the HDMI whilst the machine
was running (almost as if the fans had completely stopped).
Anyone else seen this happen or is it just a failure that could have happened at any time? Was
folding for rage3d at the time! Card wasn't overclocked, and CPU is water cooled so don't think
ambient temp was an issue. Drivers are .11

Hello,
I'm in the market for a new monitor for my setup. I upgraded the PC first, so now that I have some
more money saved up it is time to ditch my old 17" LCD. :)
I've been looking around at mainly 22" LCDs at various places, but was wondering if anyone had any
info about specifics. I saw This at
Newegg and it seemed like a pretty good deal, but I noticed no HDMI input. Should I go bigger, or
will I be happy with 22"?
Also, I thought about adding another HD 4850 in X-fire setup, but will it be overkill or something
I should consider? I like playing with all the visual goodies I can get, but if it's above my needs
then maybe it would be better to get two new LCDs instead of another 4850?

It's $688 with Little Big Planet, but I don't think that it's worth it just for that for me. Plus
I'd have to pay extra to connect it up to my TV right? I don't use HDMI/HDCP. Does it have the
required component video cables? And what are my audio options? For my 360 I have component video
and S/PDIF for audio, what does the PS3 use and how much extra will this likely be? Already the PS3
alone here in Australia it is TWICE the cost of a 360, that makes it hard to accept.

LV All-in-One PC/a is the followup to the beautiful (and powerful) Vaio LT that came out earlier
this year. This time around, they gave the LV an improved mounting base, slimmer bezel, integrated
TV tuner and most importantly, HDMI-in. Has the LV one-upped the LT?br script
type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" galleryPost('sonyvaiolvreview', 3, ''); /script/p pstrongThe
Price:/strong $2800 (as tested)/p pstrongThe Verdict:/strong The LV took everything the LT did
well, and added more things to make it even better, without sacrificing much. In terms of the
exterior improvements, the overall size of the computer is cut down due to the omission of the see
through bezel in the LT. And instead of just a spring loaded foot for the computer to rest on like
before, the LV now sits on an articulating arm, which is attachted to a base. This makes adjusting
the angle of the LV easier than before. And for those who plan to use this away from the desk, the
wireless keyboard now has a built-in trackpad, which makes couch surfing all the easier./p pBut the
real new appeal here is the addition of an HDMI-in port, which allows your screen to work with the
latest home theater and gaming consoles, independently of the PC. And it pretty much works as
advertised. You plug in your HDMI product, switch the input source over from the computer, and
voilamdash;your Vaio LV is functioning as a TV. I tested a Roku Netflix Box and Xbox 360 with the
LV, and both worked without a problem. The picture looked really sharp, and there was no visible
artifacting caused by the display. It should be noted that the HDMI does not work with windows at
all, so importing HD content from HDMI products is not a possibility./p pAs a computer, the Vaio LV
performs well, with a few slight spec bumps over the LT. But it's quick, responsive, and is able to
take on a decent workload. We even tested Tivo PC on the LV, and it functioned without so much as a
hiccup on the hardware side. But there's nothing radically different about the Vista experience
this time around, so if you're still curious, check out the LT review./p pAll in all, The LV really
is an improved semi-upgrade from the Vaio LT. It's not different enough that recent LT owners
should be cursing the stars, but those deciding between the LV and the still available LT should go
with the LV. [a href="http://gizmodo.com/tag/vaio-lv"Sony Vaio LV on Giz/a]/p br style="clear:

Xbox 360 owners who have their systems connected to their TV using a HDMI cable have lost all sound
after installing the New Xbox Experience. They have found out a temoprary fix, but it must be
carried out every time the system is turned on: 1. Turn off the Xbox 360. 2. Remove the hard drive.
3. Turn on the Xbox 360. 4. When the Dashboard loads, put the hard drive back.

As the latest generation of DLO's HomeDock series of on-TV navigation docks for iPods, HomeDock HD
($250) was originally announced in January of this year, and apparently has taken until now to
complete. The reason? HD features an all-new icon-driven menu system that can display in standard
or high definition (720p/1080i) resolutions, and upconvert videos found on iPods to 1080i
resolution. You can use either composite, S-Video, or HDMI ports...

height="248" style="display:block;" /According to a long thread at the AVForums, several Xbox 360
users are losing all sound after upgrading to the New Xbox Experience. Apparently, the problem only
appears in HDMI-connected systems. but there has been one report of someone having the same problem
using a SCART connector. Fortunately, there seems to be a fix./p p· Turn off the Xbox 360.br
· Remove the hard drive.br · Turn on the Xbox 360.br · When the Dashboard
loads, put the hard drive back./p pApparently, the fix is only temporary. If you turn of the Xbox,
you will have to receive the process. [a
