So, I've got LOTS of apps from the app store, and also participate in beta tests for developers.

If I were to jailbreak, can I keep all the apps, and continue to download apps from the appstore if I jailbreak?

Also, is there anyway to tell that it's jailbroken without seeing it on Apple or ATT's part?

Should I jailbreak? I'm not quite sure if it's sturdy enough, and I'm just nervous. I need someone to tell me if I should jailbreak, or keep what I have.

Hi everyone I got a big problem. I live in Belize ant there is no help out here. I think i'm the only one on this island with one. anyway, I was using winscp to add some roms for gpsphone on my 1.1.4 firmware iPhone 2g. Some how my son hit some things and it started to delete the file called privet. I tried to hit cancel but I was too late. after I hit cancel winscp lost connection to the phone. I went in the phone to get the IP address but it was all blank so i reset network settings but it never rebooted just stayed at the apple in boot. I pluged into itunes in udf mode and restored to 2.1 firmware. after reading how to use quickpwn i unlocked and jailbreak it. but at the end it dose the same thing and stayes at the boot screen again. so i restored it again. Is there a way to get those files and add them back on the phone? or is there someone out there that could send me those files and know a program i could use to add it back in the iPhone? Please help me!!!

My Ipod had to be sent to Apple abouts 9 days ago because the headphone jack went bad...

I recieved it today and its a brand new one :D! No scratches new serial.

I need a question answered tho because I want to go back to jailbreak. I have just restored the ipod back to the normal 2.0.2 firmware.

My question is I still have the custom 2.0.2 firmware (for jailbreak) can I simply just hold shift on the restore button in itunes and restore to that custom firmware and I will be jailbroken again?

Or... do I have to re do the whole jailbreak thing in winpwn?

hello like to jailbreak italian G3 phone on 2.2 without installing installer, can i do this with quickpwn or do i need pwnage? maybe you can deinstall installer easily?
is quickpwn "safer" then pwnage?

I have an 8GB iPod Touch 1G with firmware 1.1.5 and I have tried jailbreaking it with iLiberty, Ziphone, but still can't get it to work. I have iTunes 8.0.2.20 and whenever I try to restore an old firmware using iTunes I get the following error: The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error ocurred (1602).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have never updated, unlocked or jailbroken an iphone . I bought an iphone unlocked and jailbroke with 2.01 on it and never did upgrade to 2.1, but many of the newer apps at the Apps Store require at least 2.1 to load. I don't know much about the process, but was just trying to find out if anyone knew about the autoiphoneupdater software.

I was looking at the software because I know so little about how to proceed and do not want to mess up my already unlocked/jailbroken iphone.

What do I need to do to upgrade to 2.2, unlock it and jailbreak again? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I have an Iphone 3g that was factory released with 2.1 ... I did a quick pwnage to jailbreak and activate so I could use it with my Gevey. Everything worked fine until I had the greatest idea of the year... Upgrading to 2.2 without upgrading the baseband using a Pwnage and custom file.

Created a Custom File and Updated as Instructed in the forum. Upgrade went fine and phone worked flawlessly after the update. This was until i got the "NO SIM" error during the night. After that got the infamous "Carrier Update" that won't update. And a Basically useless phone. Because at random time the phone goes "No SIM" without any foreseeable reason... and the only solution is taking the sim out, shutting down the phone, turning the phone on, inserting sim without the gevey, shutting down the phone again, inserting the sim and gevey and turning the phone on with the crossed fingers.

The questions are the following:
1- Do you think that if i do a downgrade to 2.1 everything will work fine again??
2- How the heck I do that??

Ich werde euch hier erklären wie man den Ipod oder das Iphone wieder in den Normalzustand zurücksetzen kann. Weiss zwar nicht ob das jemand braucht kann aber nützlich sein, z.B. wenn man den Ipod oder das iPhone verkaufen möchte. Diese TUT würde erfolgreich mit einem iPhone3G 16GB 2.1 getestet.

Nun zum TUT

1.) Geh mit deinem iPod/iPhone in den DFU-Mode
Dazu schaltest du dein Ipod/iPhone aus, danach drückst du 5sek. lang den home Button, dann der Power Knopf noch dazu für 10 sek (home button nicht los lassen) dnach lässt du den Power Button los und hälst den home button gedrückt bis das iTunes Zeichen erscheint.

2.) Schliesse dein iPhone/iPod am USB an und konektiere mit iTunes.

3.) Nun drücke Shift + Wiederherstellen und wähle die Software aus die du danach auf dem Ipod haben willst.

4.) Fertig ist der ganze Zauber ;)

Tengo un problemon, instale la version 2.1 y le hice el jailbreak y todo bien. Pero no se porque mi ipod se reinicia constantemente, por ejemplo a los 10 minutos o a los 2 minutos, aparece el logo de la manzana y ahi se qda. Se quita el logo cuando lo conecto al ordenador con itunes y tras un rato aparece de nuevo las aplicaciones.

De que puede ser? Necesito saber como solucionarlo.

Every app store app that has PDF reader seems to use the same native apple PDF viewer which is not adequate for many applications. The biggest problem is that it doesn't zoom adequately. You only get a 200% magnification which is not enough to read PDF maps or small text. Secondly, there is a problem with loading speeds. Even simple PDF's take a long time to load and drag. There are a couple Jailbreak 2.x.x PDF viewers but they use the same crappy native apple PDF viewer.

PDFViewer for 1.x.x although not perfect (no bookmarks, next page button, or page scrolling), was much faster in loading and dragging PDF's and it had a much better zoom. You could zoom in as much as you wanted. It seemed to be the only PDF reader that didn't use the native apple viewer. Can someone please port this program to 2.x.x? Or can someone make a decent jailbreak PDF reader with good zooming and load times? I would pay for a good program.

i recently jailbroke my ipod touch and it was super laggy i even un-jailbroke in the same day i couldn't take the lag could some one tell me why it was soooo... laggy

Yep, bought it while the Black Friday sale was on, $21 discount and free Apple Gift packaging (or is that a norm?) It should arrive this Thursday... Can't wait!

Is there anything I should know about the iPod Touch? Nifty tricks? Pepherials I should buy?

Here's a few questions,

- Are there any decent docking speakers that a compatible with the ipod toiuch 2G floating around the $100 mark? A dock that acutally charges and plays music...unlike the older speakers that do not charge the 2G

- I'll be adding a few movies on, and I don't plan on buying them over iTunes... their pricey! So, how do you convert movies, to your touch, while still containing the high quality you see in movies bought over iTunes?

- I noticed the 2G dropped the stand that orginally came with the 1G... which blows, is their a way to build a nice looking stand, or buy one compatible with the 2G with RESONABLE pricing? $40 for a stand is stupid imo.

- What does a Jailbreak hold? I heard theirs the customizing of your touch, emulators and free apps?

- Will we ever see a Jailbreak for the 2G?

- Which apps should I start off with?

I have a 3G iPhone with ATT service. After updating to 2.2 with iTunes I ran quickpwn to jailbreak. I now have no cellular data connection at all. I have searched all over the web trying to find a fix. As of now I expect to do an exchange sometime this week.

Please help me.

beforehand, let me say, i'm sure many people have thought of this, and it may not be possible, but:

Wouldnt it save you people alot of money if instead of buying the monthly subscription to at&t along with the data plan, to only buy the data plan. If it is possible to only get the data plan for like 30 bucks, then cant you jailbreak your phone, and use (i believe its called) voip. I've seen people using iPod touches to make calls using voip, and i am planning on doing that with my iPod touch, but if you have an iPhone, isnt it possible to cut the costs of your bills by just paying for the data plan and using voip?

please tell me if this is possible because surely i will get an iPhone.

when there's the APP store? my phone is not Jailbroken and I don't intend on doing it for a long time...

just several questions I've been wondering about and could not find answer for them online...


1- why don't third parties who produce applications for Cyndia etc... give the applications to the App store so they can become official?

2- if they do. why doesn't the app store accepts these applications?

3- we all know a jailbroken phone can do a LOT more than a normal locked iPhone from customization to taking videos to other cool stuff.... why apple has put such restrictions on the iPhone?

I updated to 2.2 on a 2G iPhone 2 days ago and used quickPwn to jailbreak/unlock.
Phone was able to call and receive calls the first day
Phone isnt able to call out or recieve calls anymore.
Click on the phone icon and it goes to the phone page... then just backs out everytime. Can't click on anything.

Any suggestions how to fix this problem?

Can anyone confirm having attempted to jailbreak/unlock iPhone or iPod Touch with the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros?

This would be disheartening news that could only be lightened with an announcement from the Dev Team that they have developed a work around

I was attempting to jailbreak my ipod for 2.2 firmware, I was at the point where I had to hold home down for 30 seconds, and for some reason the timer stopped at 16, said I was done, and now my ipod won't boot. I either get a cartoon of steve jobs, or the pineapple logo, but it won't boot, or go into recovery mode, and Itunes won't connect to it because it has a password set. Does anyone know how I could fix this? :confused:

Quick version of the story...

My old 2G iPhone (Unlocked/Jailbroken) broke...I took it into Apple...and they gave me a new 2G iPhone. I assume it has 2.2 when I tried to use quickpwn v2.0 it said we are sorry we dont support your firmware.

I also tried to just use DFU mode and use an earlier custom firmware created with quickpwn...it didnt work and now I am in DFU mode....

Any advice no how to Unlock - Jailbreak - and get my phone out of DFU mode? I am with Tmobile.

i got a problem with quickpwn 2.2, i cant jailbreak my ipod, after the dfu mod, my ipod keep still by a white screen, for more then 10min. After 10min my ipod goes off and there is no jailbreak on my ipod. Can someone help me?

Okay, when I jailbreak my iPod will it restore my iPod? Meaning all my music and videos will be gone?

I am in firmware 2.0 and downloaded correctly both qkpwn and qkpwnguide120 from sticker thread. Unzipped the both zip files to a folder.

I made a folder contains iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore, QuickPwnGui120 and subfolder QuickPwn. (I also tried move sub-folder Quickpwn's content out of the subfolder to the mail folder, the result is the same)

Where shall I place those file and sub-folders anyways?

I killed all apple***,itune*** files.

Quickpwngui120 runs find, clicked on run. It crashes on "loading restore.plist (1344)" each time!!!!!

I also tried it on .Net Frame 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 as well as 3 machines running xp and vista.

All the same result, dying/crashing right on "loading restore.plist (1344)"!!! I have no clue why it doesn't work for me. The other method "restore" sounds very complicated to me as I am a bit tech challenged...

I just looked into the QuickPwn subfolder, it has "iPhone1,2_2.0.1_5B108.bundle" kind of stuff in it. Does it mean it is for 2.0.1 not for 2.0????!!!!???????? How do you get on a clear 2.0.1 after downloading the 2.0.1 firmware??? I used store function to upgrade my 1.14 to 2.0. Shall I do it again from 2.0 to 2.0.1?

I am very confused. I like to stay at 2.0 for now though...

i really need help. Whenever i try to jailbreak my ipod running 2.2 i get to the part where it says the pwnage process appears to have been sucessful please wait for your ipod to reboot in its newly modifided state and then my ipod stays at the part that is just a silver apple. My ipod has been like this for a little bit over an hour now, restarting every once and a while on its own, and i cant restore it because whenever its plugged in itunes freezes. I REALLY NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
