Ulrich Krause wrote a
blog entry last week about a new project he posted to OpenNTF called project Cebulon. It has
several examples of using LotusScript to call Lotus Notes C-API functions related to rich text.
He also mentioned that there is sample code for Windows and Linux, but none for Mac (at the
moment). This reminded me of some code that Bill Buchan
published a while back.
Bill has done a lot of work with not only calling the C-API using LotusScript, but also with
working around platform differences when making the API calls. Here's
an excellent presentation Bill made a few years ago that outlines some of the considerations
you need to make when writing multi-platform API code.
Around that time, he also published
an open-source LS2CAPI database with some remarkable code that hides all the platform
differences using wrapper classes, so you can just define your API functions once and let the
classes manage the platform dependencies in the background. As an example, I wrote a wrapper class around Bill's wrapper
class that allows you to make calls like this:
Dim apiNotesDir As New simpleApiWrapper("OSGetExecutableDirectory") Call
apiNotesDir.addParam("PathName", type_STRING, False, "") Call
apiNotesDir.setReturnType(type_WORD) If apiNotesDir.run() Then Print "Exe Path = " &
apiNotesDir.getParamValue("PathName") End If
I know that this might look like more work rather than less, but in a lot of ways it really makes
your cross-platform C-API code much easier to manage. It's worth taking a little time to
get your head around it.

sudo ntpdate-debian 15 Mar 10:11:01 ntpdate[5406]: adjust time server 91.189.94.4 offset
0.038837 sec
sudo aptitude install ntp sudo /etc/init.d/ntp stop
On configure ensuite le fichier /etc/ntp.conf:
day enable filegen peerstats file peerstats type day enable filegen clockstats file clockstats type
day enable # Serveur de temps ROOT # http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/fr server 0.fr.pool.ntp.org
server 1.fr.pool.ntp.org server 2.fr.pool.ntp.org server 3.fr.pool.ntp.org # ACL restrict -4
default kod notrap nomodify nopeer noquery restrict -6 default kod notrap nomodify nopeer noquery
restrict 127.0.0.1 restrict ::1 restrict 192.168.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 notrust

- php_value
- php_flag
- php_admin_value
- php_admin_flag
Exemple d'utilisation de la directive php_value
Il peux parfois être utile de modifier l' "include_path" de PHP:
ServerName mon.site.com DocumentRoot /var/www/monsite php_value include_path
".:/opt/php5/lib/php" ...
ServerName mon.site.com DocumentRoot /var/www/monsite php_flag engine off ...
Exemple d'utilisation de la directive php_admin_value
Changer le memory_limit des scripts d'un répertoire:
ServerName mon.site.com DocumentRoot /var/www/monsite AllowOverride All Options All -Indexes
Order allow,deny Allow from all php_admin_value memory_limit 32M ...
ServerName mon.site.com DocumentRoot /var/www/monsite AllowOverride All Options All -Indexes
Order allow,deny Allow from all php_admin_flag mysql.allow_persistent Off ...

for just $99. That will get you a bare bones device that can simply be used as a Linux-based

Sometimes I like taking the latest releases of Fedora Linux for a spin. There aren't any guides for
quickly getting Fedora's usb creator working on Ubuntu. So I decided to change that.
Download Fedora Alpha here (I
strongly suggest using the torrent so it's verified automatically)
*Note* you could also choose to get a stable version of Fedora, as Alpha can
mean the usual, aka data loss, losing access to your Ubuntu drive if you install it, or the network
card on your computer becoming permanently made useless, etc.
Get the file: liveusb-creator-3.9.tar.bz2 (140K) (under Source)
https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/
Install the following dependencies - which I believe would all be installed by:
apt:python-qt4-dbus,python-parted
Extract the liveusb-creator-**** file. Run with following command:
gksudo "./liveusb-creator --noverify"
Then follow the on-screen instruction. Enjoy testing!
Couple of testing points:
- On initial bootup, just press enter when you see "boot:"
- Just wait when you get to the login screen, it will eventually log you in. Don't try
clicking on anything, it doesn't seem to like it.

Front Page Diablo community SSU up and running for beta-testing
After months of discussion, a community-run update site for Maemo 4 devices like the N800 and
N8x0 is now available for beta-testing. If successful, this will provide a mechanism for
providing application bug fixes and updates to Diablo users without requiring Nokia to ship an
update. Lucas Maneos has set up and signed an
initial repository so that the kinks in the process can be worked out: "Note also that this is
not the final repository and depending on how testing goes you may have to reflash back to the
official 5.2008.43-7 in order to install the "official" community SSU when it arrives (though I
will try to avoid that if at all possible)." Testing this is vital to ensure that the upgrade
path for end-users is seamless (the "S" in "SSU"). If successful, it should pave the way for the
community to pick up upgrading other superseded devices in future.

stressing importance of Maemo Community Council elections: stand now before time runs out
The nomination period for the next Maemo Community Council ends on Wednesday, 17th March. With

importance of the community council to Nokia, "The council is seen by Nokia and the people
pushing the MeeGo project as a very interesting asset and characteristic of the Maemo community.
It can't be translated directly to the MeeGo context but everybody agrees that having an elected
body canalizing an agenda complementing the strategy and work of the MeeGo technical
infrastructure would be useful and worth trying." There are hundreds of eligible candidates, and
the only responsibility is to carry on what you're already doing!

The release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" is quickly approaching next month and it will arrive
with a whole set of new features and improvements including a faster boot process, a long-awaited
new theme, the Nouveau driver to replace the crippled xf86-video-nv driver, the unveiling of the
Ubuntu One Music Store, integration of Plymouth, Ubuntu ARM advancements, and many other
advancements for this Linux distribution. While it may not be as exciting as looking at these new
end-user features, in this article we are testing out the available kernels for Ubuntu 10.04.
Besides the standard Linux 2.6.32 kernel used in the Lucid release, there is also a specialized
server kernel as well as a new -preempt kernel is now available. We are looking at how these
different kernels perform and how they compare to the mainline Linux kernels with the 2.6.32,
2.6.33, and 2.6.34-rc1 releases.
