I was browsing MacRumors iPhone home page and saw this in the list of Apps.
I downloaded it, and it's totally cool. It allows you to password protect your
notepad so that you can write notes and reminders to yourself and no one
else can ever access them. :)

I've been having all sorts of problems lately on my Macbook Pro. Things are starting to slow down.
A restart doesn't fix it. I'm pissed off how Safari acts like it's running on the iPhone(before
firmware 2.2 that is). It crashes like every 30 minutes or something. Even when I'm scrolling
Macrumors.
Here's another thing. Whenever I click Restart from the apple menu, does nada. Only thing it closes
is my iTunes. Safari, Mail, iCal just sit there.
Then, I manually quit the app but I have to force-quit mail every single time. Even when I'm not
restarting. Mail works awesome and fetches my gmail and everything but it refuses to quit. I have
to force quit at least 3 times for it to actually quit.
So, I'm thinking to erasing everything and do a clean install of Leopard. But before doing that, I
wanted to ask if it is practical, because I have a lot of stuff on here so back up would take
hours.
I mean, do users who do a clean install experience that new fast feeling?
P.S. My hard disk space is about 65 GB out of 200. Not too bad right? I don't believe that is the
problem.
P.P.S: Running 10.5.5

Quote: Oops. Jordan Hubbard, Director of Apple's Unix Technology Group, made a boo boo. The slide
above was pulled from the deck presented last week at the LISA (Large Installation System
Administration) conference. Up until now, Apple had only been willing to say that OS X 10.6 Snow
Leopard would be ready "in about a year" -- that was back in early June at WWDC. You just know that
this will have Steve fuming given Apple's tight control over information. One thing is perfectly
clear: the race is on for both Redmond (rumored to be shooting for a mid-2009 Windows 7 launch) and
Cupertino, nobody wants to be second with their next gen OS release.

Hi All-
A few years ago I installed Norton antivirus 9.0 & Systemworks 3.0. Shortly after that I had
been informed through MacRumors posts that Norton was not needed for Macs or mine as I took it. I
have since been bombarded with updates saying I need to update the software for a fee. I have
neglected doing this for said reasons.
To date I have upgraded to Leopard & upon each startup would get windows I had to respond to in
order to proceed to my home page, namely #1 window "Norton Utilities detects new version OS" &
#2 Norton Error-could not continue etc". For this reason I "Uninstalled " both Norton packages,
it's great- no more pop-up windows & on startup I can walk away and return with my homepage
loaded.
Question is, maybe things have changed? should I reinstal the software and upgrade it? If so,
should I reinstal or just buy the newest version available, I doubt I'd get any discount
anyhow...
TIA...

"Appleinsider is reporting that the new MacBooks/MacBookPros have built-in copy protection. Quote:
'Apple's new MacBook lines include a form of digital copy protection that will prevent protected
media, such as DRM-infused iTunes movies, from playing back on devices that aren't compliant with
the new priority protection measures.' Ars Technica is also reporting on the issue. Is this the
deal they had to make to get NBC back? Is this a deal breaker for Apple or will fans just ignore it
to get their hands on the pretty new machines? Is this a new opportunity for Linux? And what
happened to Jobs not liking DRM?"

Hi,
I just registered to MacRumors, but have been reading the forums for quite a while.
I have a few thoughts on buying a new setup but can't figure out which way to go. I'm a high school
student, interested in photography. Need a new setup to replace my current pretty tired PC.
My first idea was to get a MBP for my main computer. Great perfomance and its portable if I need it
to be. But a 15.4" laptop is too big to carry round to school every day I feel, as we have a Dell
D830 in the family.
Then thought about a MB, but the lack of dedicated graphics put me off buying as a main computer.
Perhaps a MB for school and Photography work on location and a PC for bigger PS work and occasional
gaming? How does Lightroom handle the OS difference?
The ideal solution would obviously be a Mac Pro with MB/MBA, but that costs too much. Even MB with
a 24" iMac is out of reach.
Any thoughts?
