Not sure if anybody will know this, but figured I'd throw it out there. I just got an awesome new pair of sennheiser headphones (look for a review soon), and noticed that they have neodynium magnets inside of them. I know that this relates to controlling the drivers and all that good stuff, but that's beside the point.

What I was wondering is if there could be any adverse affects to the magnets being too close to each other? They are the same polarization so they repel each other, but if it could mis-align them or something of the sort, I'd like to know so that I can avoid having them close to each other.

Anybody know anything about this?

Nebraska lawmakers voted today to change a controversial safe-haven law intended to protect infants, but that made the state a magnet for parents with troubled teens. Thirty-five children -- all but six of them older than 10 -- have been dropped off at Nebraska hospitals since the law took effect in September. The history of James Bond films is the history of our fascination with technology: booby-trapped briefcases, jetpacks, cars with machine guns and ejector seats, super-magnet watches, cars driven by remote control, acid-filled fountain pens, cars that become invisible, sharks with frickin' lasers... Sorry, wrong spy movie franchise on that last example. But you get the point, one that's been made several times during the remarkable 46-year-long run of the 007 films.

Hello all,

a short question regarding the magnet(s) that hold the lid in the late 2008 Macbook Pros: Is the magnet supposed to be strong enough to hold the lid no matter what position the notebook is in, i.e. even if it is turned around the hinge axis or held entirely upside down?

OK, I admit that it is very difficult to hold a closed MBP without touching the lid, but the question is not entirely theoretical since situations like this arise when the notebook is carried in a backpack without an extra protective sleeve. (Yes, I know I should not do this. :))
