hey guys, well this is my problem, for the past 3 years straight out of high school I've been in
the Marine Corps...this coming september 09, my contract is done and my freedom is restored haha,
and I'm planning to go to college using my gi bill and have my education paid 100%. I'm having
trouble deciding what I want to major in, I'd like to make money and also enjoy my job. I was
thinking Business Management, I'd like to run my own business one day like a bar or club. I do like
studio arts, I am also thinking of making that my minor.
If you guys can just give me any type of advice with college and everything that would be great..I
really don't know what I'm asking for here but I just dont want to go to college and spend all the
time and effort and end up not liking a major i choose. I'd like to have some options of majors you
think would work for me.
Something about me...I didn't take highschool seriously because I knew I was going into the
military..now that's biting me in the ass cause I know my transcripts aren't exactly up to par. But
I can safely say that if I am dedicated to something I can asure you that I can get straight As. I
like to make money...yes I'm a money person who isnt. I hate math...maybe its because I haven't
done it in 3 years. I like history, I hate anything with science and also like history.

 Category: Productivity
Released: Nov 20, 2008
Price: $4.99
Description:
Ever wonder where the day went? Why
its
5
oclock
already, but your workload has actually increased rather than decreased? You try to think back and
remember where the time went, but you can only recall lunch and being interrupted right as your
were about to hit the zone. Between ringing phones, the never ending inbox onslaught, IMs bombarded
with YouTube video links and the time vampires lurking at every turn, there is just not enough time
in the day. If this sounds familiar,
youre
not alone. Small interruptions add up, and before you know it your deadlines have come and gone,
there is a voice box full of messages, and
youre
no farther along than when the day started. In fact, each minute that goes by it seems like your
sinking deeper. We all want more time. But the bottom line
isno
matter how hard we wish, there will never be more than 24 hours in the day. Sacrificing sleep, time
with loved ones, food and other necessities may work in the short term, but it
wont
last. Trust us on this. It is not a viable long-term solution. Something will give!
Weve
seen it some many times before. The ripple effect of unproductive day has repercussions way beyond
the office. The weight of work and unmet deadlines can result in snapping at loved ones,
disengagement from friends, and even depression. But there is hope. There is a way you can get more
done in a day. Even up to 2x the amount you currently do each day. Imagine that. Take control of
your life by actually seeing where you spend your time. This is the all important first step in
turning the tables from slave to the clock to master of. Why is this so revolutionary?
Weve
all heard the expression,
Time
is
money.
Well
were
about to prove it. This application you will actually make money. And a lot of it! How, exactly,
will this happen?Well, we have to start by valuing your time. What is your time worth?
Lets
say for example, you value 1 hour of your time at 30 dollars/hour. By using GooeyTimers to keep
track of your time, you can make adjustments to increase efficiency. More efficiently using your
time and increasing productivity, will create time. What used to take 3 hours, will now take 2.
That extra hour is worth 30 dollars, and it is now your pocket. You just made your money back 10
fold.
Lets
say GooeyTimers gains you a conservative 5 hours over the week, you just made yourself 150 dollars
week, which if 600 dollars month! You can do the math from here on out. All this gain just more
efficiently managing your time! Now for the best part,
its
simple, so simple! With just 2 taps of the screen
youre
tracking your task. And things only get better with
GooeyTimers
multi-timer ability. Enter your task and start the
clock..if
you are interrupted by a phone call, simply start a second timer, which will record your second
task the phone call. Once done, stop the second timer, enter a name, and resume the first task.
Continue on in this manner until your task is done. Once done
youll
see where your time went. You can than make adjustments to your schedule to make your workday that
much more efficient. Features2 Touch Timer Start

Global Voices Online -

It has been more than a month since Kazakhstan’s telecom monopolist blocked access of the
users to Livejournal, the most popular blog platform in the Central Asian country. At the same
time, the networks of online discussions did not get bleaker, still providing speedy reaction to
the socio-political and economic developments and vibrant activity of the blogosphere.
Last week President Nazarbayev urged the Kazakhstanis to buy housing now, when the prices have
decreased. Slavasay is wondering [ru]:
Obviously, neither me nor any of my friends having income “above average”, do not
belong to the “people”, which the president means. I don’t have money to buy an
apartment in Almaty at these prices. I have even less desire to mess with the construction
companies now, when thousands of people are not able to get their flats for which they paid
– and which were never built.
Russia – the closest ally and the Kazakhstan’s neighbor with which it
shares the longest border line – follows the steps of Kazkahstan, blogger
megakhuimyak says [ru].
Russian leader Medvedev delivered his first state of the nation address and suggested extending
presidential term up to 6 years, parliamentary term – up to 5 years, and to
extend the powers of both institutions:
“Kazakhstan today is Russia tomorrow!”. Last year Kazakhstan extended the term of
presidency – now Russia does the same. Last year we’ve got crisis
– now look at Russia. You can taste the validity of this slogan”.
schriftsteller addresses
the issue of integration between the two countries [ru]:
Against the background of financial crisis, the talks about Russo-Kazakh integration resurrected
– they say cooperation can be an effective tool in fighting crisis. But if you
take a look at the facts, it can be seen that integration has been undermined
– large Russian companies refused to let Kazakh business enter the market and
blocked all projects, which could have promoted integration. Ultimately, integration is the
ability to share with the neighbor.
Alim-atenbek, however, is not
too happy with the direction in which the country is moving [ru]:
Sometimes it seems to me that all public officials, police officers, judges et al. get employed
with the state structures because they are not intelligent enough, or just want to make money out
of their positions, or – rarely – desperate patriots. When
these people get power, they get infected with superiority complex of a man who rules the world.
The country gets rotten in the official lawlessness and we often contribute to its further
corruption.
Finally, here is a brief update on Livejournal accessibility from Kazakhstan. Yesterday,
Livejournal was moving onto another server facility in Montana, United States. Of course, the IPs
have changed during this procedure. And at night Kazakhstani users were able to reach their
favorite website without proxies and anonymizers. Pycm imagines what happened next [ru]:
Then the censors came to their office, had some tea for a start. And at 10.25 a.m. switched
Livejournal off again.
In this regard, rosvet remembered
[ru] a Stalin-era aphorism: “If you are still not in jail, it’s not your desert. It
is our omission”.
Programmila says [ru] that
repeated blockage means censorship “by order from the upper levels”
– so, technical problems with the routing are not an issue any more.
Adam-kesher stresses [ru]
that it is not serious for Kazakhtelecom to deny their implication in blockage, because it is
clearly an IP filtering.

A few folks have submitted links to a blog post by Mark Mulligan, who is a VP and Director of
Research for Forrester. In the post, Mulligan talks about a
href="http://weblogs.jupiterresearch.com/analysts/mulligan/archives/2008/11/why_music_cant.html"
target="_new"why music can't be free, noting/a: blockquotei Another argument being aired is that
the music industry should stop being so hung up on trying to get paid online, indeed one story even
referred to "the Music Industry's obsession with copyright". That's like saying "the car industry's
obsession with cars". Copyright is the oxygen of the music industry. Without it there is no
industry. Sure there may be cases for changing some industry practices but copyright remains the
essence of making money from music. br /br / Music cannot just be 'for free' anymore than cars or
houses can 'just be for free'. If people aren't paid they don't make the product. Sure music will
still exist, but you'll swap nicely programmed download stores and well stocked high street stores
for buskers and millions upon millions of artist pages, all clamouring for your attention. Perhaps
that sounds appealing? The problem is, most of them would sound a fraction as good as they would if
they'd been able to give up their day jobs and been given proper equipment, studio time, mentoring
and artist development support. And even those that would still manage to sound ok, would struggle
to find their way to your PC or mobile screen as they wouldn't have any marketing support to help
them get there. /i/blockquote Mulligan's post is actually in response to the various stories about
France's SPPF a href="http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20081114/1457012833.shtml"suing/a a bunch of
file sharing apps. However, it's a bit worrisome that a "research director" at one of the biggest
research firms seems to have done so little research on the situation. While Mulligan's post is
longer, let's just go through these two paragraphs and explain where Mulligan went wrong. br /br /
First of all, copyright is not, has not been and never will be the "oxygen of the music industry."
The oxygen of the music industry would be a
href="http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20080304/174129438.shtml"fans/a, and if you treat your fans
as criminals, you can be pretty sure that eventually they cut off that oxygen. Copyright may be an
ioxygen tank/i that artificially pumps oxygen into a sick and infirm patient, but it's hardly
relevant to a ihealthy/i and irobust/i system based on a
href="http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20070503/012939.shtml"business models/a that take into
account basic economics. br /br / Next up is the claim that "music cannot be 'for free' anymore
than cars or houses can 'just be for free.'" You would think that someone working as VP and
research director of the second largest analyst firm would at least understand ia little/i basic
economics -- including the economics of scarce goods vs. infinite, or non-rivalrous, non-excludable
goods. Apparently, not. So, Mulligan is simply wrong here. Yes, music absolutely can be free.
Music, by itself, is quite different, fundamentally, than a car or a house, because those are
scarce goods. If one person has a particular house, another person cannot. Yet, with music,
everyone can have a copy of the same song. And, as we learned in basic economics, price is the
intersection of supply and demand, and when supply is infinite, those curves meet at a price of
zero. Alternatively, you can attack the same problem from another angle, which again was taught in
basic economics: in a competitive market, price gets driven to marginal cost. The marginal cost of
making a copy of a song is, once again, zero. Music can iand should/i be priced at $0. That's just
basic economics. To claim it "cannot be" without addressing such fundamental economics is
troubling. br /br / Even more troubling is that beyond even the "theoretical" aspects of the above
paragraph, is the widespread iproof/i that music absolutely can be free -- and that musicians can
do quite well when it is free. Yet, instead of recognizing that, Mulligan trots out the tired and
widely debunked line that "If people aren't paid they don't make the product." See what he did
there? It's common among folks who are entering into such discussions for the first time. They say
(a) music can't be free because (b) if people don't get paid, they don't make money. The iproblem/i
with this statement is that he makes a huge leap that if (a) then (b). If music is free, musicians
don't get paid. The problem is, that's false. We've spent over a decade chronicling various
business models where people use free isomething/i to get paid for isomething else/i. br /br / And,
of course, this is hardly a "new" or "revolutionary" business model. It's the way the world has
worked for ages. The pizza shop down the street from me offers a free soda with two slices of
pizza. Yet, according to Mulligan's professional opinion on business models, the pizza shop should
go out of business. After all, it's giving away a product for free, thus it's not getting paid. The
problem with Mulligan's analysis -- which one would hope is not indicative of Forrester's quality
of work -- is that he seems to have focused so narrowly on the market, that he doesn't know what
the market actually is. He seems to think that the entirety of the market is selling music --
rather than using the music to sell plenty of other things. Musicians can sell a variety of
scarcities, such as concert tickets, merchandise, access to the band, the ability to create new
music and many other things. br /br / The rest of Mulligan's argument simply builds on the spurious
assertion that musicians wouldn't make any money without copyright. Considering that his underlying
assumption is false, the rest of the paragraph makes little to no sense, especially in light of the
reality of the music industry -- which is musicians can (and already do) make more money from
focusing on selling scarcities. br /br / Yes, we've all seen these arguments in the past -- but
they're usually put forth by someone who hasn't thought through these issues, and has simply jumped
into one of these debates without taking the time to understand the actual market fundamentals.
Yet, here's a case where a top exec and director of research at one of the world's largest analyst
firms is making these same very basic rookie mistakes. If your firm happens to be relying on
Forrester for advice on such matters, perhaps it's time to consider an alternative.br /br /a

alt="InLinks" //abr //div Bloggers and web publishers looking for a quick way to make some cash
have long turned to advertisers willing to pay for text links on their web sites. Some text links
hang out in a section of a web site clearly labeled as sponsored links. But others have a way of
making their way into the body of a post, where they look like any other link on a web page. But
typically when you scroll over a text ad placed by an advertising service like a
href="http://www.vibrantmedia.com/"Vibrant Media/a, you'll see a pop up which makes it clear that
you're looking at an ad and not necessarily a relevant link placed by the author of the article

href="https://www.inlinks.com/"InLinks/a which automates the process of placing in-text links that

and web publishers who want to resort to this tactic, if the practice catches on, it could erode

Phil Bradley's weblog -
2 days and 1 hours ago
pI have long been a fan of Pageflakes, but had concerns when I saw that it had been sold onto Live
Universe a
href=http://philbradley.typepad.com/phil_bradleys_weblog/2008/04/pageflakes-conf.htmlearlier this
year/a. Until then there had been a very lively group of beta testers, and lots of interaction with
the company. After the acquisition everything went silent on that front. There have recently been
problems with access - I lost a entire day (ironically it was a teaching day, so I had to use
Netvibes instead, so that#39;s a group of people who are already going down another track) and
I#39;m aware that other people have lost even more time because of one reason or another. The blog
hasn#39;t been updated in a long while, the Pageflakes community pages have closed, the press pages
haven#39;t been updated either. Not good./ppI noticed that new users were having advertising flakes
put onto pages when they created new accounts, but it was just on the very first page, and
secondary tabs didn#39;t have advertising. None of my pages had advertising at all. Today however
in the space of a few moments I#39;ve got advertising on every single page, and it#39;s large,
intrusive and I can#39;t move it or close it down. Screenshot below:/ppa

title=Pageflakesadvert //a br /Pageflakes - what on earth do you think that you#39;re doing? You
want to make money - fine, I can deal with that. I like (liked?) the resource enough to pay money
to use it, but I#39;m not being given that choice. You#39;ve not consulted your users and are just
going ahead with sponsored content./ppGiven the attitude, the lack of contact with users and the
up/down nature of the product, I think it#39;s time to consider a switch to Netvibes. I really do
hope that you change your minds, but I#39;m doubtful. What#39;s really stupid is that if you#39;d
said you wanted money - I#39;d have given it willingly. I would advise everyone to start to explore
other options - I have a listing of them on my #39;a
href=http://www.philb.com/iwantto/startpages.htmI want to/a#39; pages which I#39;m currently
updating. You can also check out my Web 2.0 weblog for other more recent a
