I know there is the speed test thread, but i want to know what the going price for internet is.

Right now i have a 1.5 down 512 up cable line for $45 a month. I did have 3 meg for $60 but that was when 3 people were splitting the bill. Now i split the bill with myself.

I can pay $35 for 1meg, $45 for 1.5, $60 for 3, or $80 for 5. Since the local phone company owns the fiber lines in town and wont lease them i can't get fiber. A town nearby, about 6 miles down the interstate, has 15meg fiber available. It's $55 a month i believe.

Am i being over charged? I haven't dealt with cable companies for very long.
