Thanks in part to the willingness of Google to share the love that is known as the Android mobile OS, we’ll probably see more devices loaded with this highly-anticipated operating system in the coming months. Case and point; the Sciphone Dream G2 is trying to follow in the footsteps of the successful HTC G1.

It’s runs on Android Home edition V1.0 and comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 4-megapixel camera, WiFi, FM tuner, 50MB internal memory, micoSD card support, 1500mHa battery, and an ultra-compact size (56×107.2×11.8mm). If you think the specs are a toned down as compared to the G1, that’s because it is. No 3G, GPS, physical QWERTY keypad, and the numeric keypad doesn’t even come with text support which basically means you’ll have very limited usage for the Schiphone Dream G2.

It’s expected to ship in the next couple of week with a $174 price tag attached to it. It may look the part of a worthy successor to the G1, but it obviously lacks the power and features to emulate the pioneering model from HTC. We’ll pass on this one because we know something better’s going to come out in the near future.

And truthfully, the guy still hasn't totally delivered, but you won't find us kvetching about more Googlephones, regardless of MSRP. The Agora (AU$299; US$192) and Agora Pro (AU$399; US$256) are available for pre-order as we speak, though neither one is scheduled to ship out until the end of January. For those unfamiliar with Kogan, it's an online-only enterprise that has wares built specifically to its dimensions in China, and so far as we can tell, it's as legit as they come. As for specs, the Agora packs a 2.5-inch touchscreen (320 x 240), 3G networking, a backlit QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.0 and a microSD card slot; the Pro adds in GPS, 2-megapixel camera and WiFi. So, with unsubsidized prices this low, are you willing to take a chance?

17Lamp.net: "TechFaith Wireless and Qigi Future Technology announced a smartphone that runs the Google Android mobile Linux stack. The i6-Goal is only the second Android phone to launch, and reportedly includes a 2.8-inch touchscreen, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and a two-megapixel camera."

Nokia takes on Apple with their new N97 handset with a Symbian S60 OS, a 3.5-inch touchscreen, GPS, HSDPA, FM transmitter and tuner and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. In addition, it also has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard,  WiFi and Bluetooth capability, 32GB memory and a microSD slot that can manage up to 16GB. Look for the N97 early next year with an approximate price of €550 ($695.00.)

Le tout est fabriqué par Kogan, et affiche des écrans tactiles 2.5″ (résolution 320×240 pixels), la 3G, des claviers QWERTY éclairés, le Bluetooth 2.0, des ports microSD. You know what we could really use right now? A chunky slab of XP running on a device that is simultaneously too big for our pockets but less functional than a netbook. Oh, what's that Trigem, you've got that? Suweet. Meet the LLUON Mobbit PS400, an Atom Z520-powered UMPC MID with a 4.8-inch (1,024 x 600) touchscreen LCD, 2 megapixel camera, 1GB memory, choice of 30GB hard disk or 16GB SSD, WiFi, and Korean WiMax (WiBro) and digital television (T-DMB). Here's the interesting part: the price. According CNET, it will cost "around" $411 (600,000 won) when it ships in January -- that's a lot of kit for that price (the similarly-speced R50A from ASUS costs over $1,800). If true, then the Mobbit looks to have finally achieved the pricing goal set by Microsoft and Intel for these UMPC-class devices way back in early 2006. Add the RAM- and touch-friendly Windows 7 OS and we might finally be home... albeit 3-years (too?) late.

We'll be totally honest -- we pretty much blew Ruslan Kogan off when he proclaimed that he was about to push out a $199 Android phone by the year's end. And truthfully, the guy still hasn't totally delivered, but you won't find us kvetching about more Googlephones, regardless of MSRP. The Agora (AU$299; US$192) and Agora Pro (AU$399; US$256) are available for pre-order as we speak, though neither are scheduled to ship out until the end of January. For those unfamiliar with Kogan, it's an online-only enterprise that has wares built specifically to its dimensions in China, and so far as we can tell, it's as legit as they come. As for specs, the Agora packs a 2.5-inch touchscreen (320 x 240), 3G networking, a backlit QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.0 and a microSD card slot; the Pro adds in GPS, 2-megapixel camera and WiFi. So, with unsubsidized prices this low, are you willing to take a chance?
