Wu checked his retail sources and found that Amazon.com, Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart have all been experiencing shortages of the popular iPod Touch, Nano, and Shuffle models. Wait times for certain models on Amazon range from three weeks to two months.

Senior-level management pay raises have been suspended for 2009 (no mention of bonuses). /p p bUpdate/b: I've confirmed that the layoffs, which are being made now, not only cut across divisions but run at least as high as EVP—possibly higher—and are meant to be global and domestic. Just a quick thought - does it strike anyone that Apple might be abandoning Boot Camp just as much as they're abandoning Firewire? There hasn't been an update to the Boot Camp drivers as yet, so the new trackpad (not to mention the GPU) is going unsupported as far as I can tell.

Will Boot Camp be dropped by the time Snow Leopard rolls around? I hope not - I've got a mid-2007 MBP and whilst OS X is great and I've become somewhat of a convert, I still need native Windows support, so when the time eventually comes to upgrade I'll be needing Boot Camp for sure.

In 2006 when Fon was founded there were around 200 million wifi chips made and this year will end with over a billion. And while it doesn´t mention Fon it is gadgets that is making us end the year with over 300,000 Fonspots around the world. It´s paradoxical that Fon started as a WiMax company, failed and was reborn as a WiFi company. WiMax is the perennial future that never happens. WiFi grows and grows.
