Cubism 1.0.1 Cubism is designed to be a simple, colorful, fun and (slightly)
useful way to visualize the music in your iTunes library.
To Install:
- Quit iTunes if it is running
- Drag the Cubism icon to the folder labeled “Compositions” inside of
the disk image (or copy it to ~/Library/Compositions)
To use Cubism:
- Open iTunes
- Start playing some music
- In the menu bar go to View > Visualizer and choose Cubism from the menu of visualizers
- Go to View > Turn On Visualizer
While using Cubism:
- Press the “I” key to show track information
- Press the “H” key to show help (admittedly not very exciting at the
moment)
- The colored cubes represent the sound levels with bass on the left and treble on the right
- The small artwork cube visually displays the time remaining in the current track moving from
left to right as the song progresses
- The current track time is shown on the left
- The time remaining in the current track is shown to the right

Why can't I search by composer any more in iTunes 8?
In iTunes 7, composer was one of the options in the drop down menu attached to the search box, but
in iTunes 8 it has gone and the only options are All, Album Artist and Name.
I used to use the search by composer option quite a bit since lots of classical groups are named
after composers (Monteverdi Choir, Alban Berg Quartet ...), and many contemporary composers are
also performers (Pierre Boulez, Thomas Ades ...)
I know in the first case I could search for "Monteverdi, Claudio" instead, or just ignore the
spurious results, but that's a bit less clean and more inconvenient.
Does anybody know where composer search has gone and why, and whether there's any way to bring it
back? I can think of no good reason why this feature should have been removed, unless Apple just
hates people who listen to classical music.

Skyhaze was formed in the middle of 2005 as a means to produce relaxation music for a local
Complimentary Therapist (Venus Light Therapies). As the songs debuted on Myspace, interest in the
project increased and the decision was made to make Skyhaze a full-time project. Skyhaze consists
solely of Steve Cowan (of FearOfHatred and PlaguesFire fame) who is usually found singing and
playing guitar in Death and Black Metal projects. The first album to be created was 'Score For An
Unwritten Movie' in late 2005. This was quickly followed by the sophomore effort 'Evening Songs'
which debuted a more beat-orientated feel. Finally, in 2006 the album 'The Year That Never' was
created. This was a return to the sound created by 'Score' but with greater epic scope. Due to the
popularity of PlaguesFire and FearOfHatred, Skyhaze is on a metaphorical back-burner. However, it
is planned that a new album will see release in 2007.

height=150 //aa href=http://www.yes.com/#YES_LobbyYes.com/a is an aggregator of information about
terrestrial radio. They track the song playing activity of many thousands of radio stations. Now
they are making all of this wonderful data available via aa href=http://api.yes.com/ web API/a. p
You can do all sorts of things with the API - you can search for stations (by call letter, by
location, by style of music etc.), find out what a particular station is playing, find out which
artists or tracks are popular etc. p For instance, to find the stations near me I can just search
using my zipcode: p a
href=http://api.yes.com/1/stations?loc=03064http://api.yes.com/1/stations?loc=03064/a p This yields
a bunch of json (JavaScript Object Notation) that describes the local radio stations. p The API
lets you get all sorts of interesting data, including: ul li The log of all songs played on any
station in the last week li The top songs on any station (based on plays or user voting) li Overall
popularity of a song or artist li Related songs (based upon playlist co-occurrence) /ul p Some more
examples: ul li a href=http://api.yes.com/1/chart?name=WBCNTop tracks on local radio station WBCN/a
li a href=http://api.yes.com/1/log?name=WBCNago=1All the songs played yesterday on WBCN/a. li a
href=http://api.yes.com/1/media?q=stairway+to+heavenInfo about stairway to heaven./a li a
href=http://api.yes.com/1/related?mid=7016218Songs related to stairway to heaven/a (theres more
Eddie Money on this list than I would have expected). /ul This is a gold mine of data about popular
music. Folks interested in a href=http://www.schnitzer.at/dominik/moc/automatic/a a
href=http://stuffalsothings.blogspot.com/2008/09/introductory-thoughts-on-playlist.htmlgeneration/a
of a href=http://www2.iiia.csic.es/~claudio/playlists/a can mine song sequences from professionally
curated playlists. Music marketeers can learn what music is popular in various geographic
locations. Music recommenders can mine data about what songs are being played together on the radio
stations. Given that terrestrial radio is still the way that most people discover new music, this
data is very useful in helping us understand what people are listening to. p The API is full
featured, is very fast and seems quite solid. My biggest gripe is that it serves up JSON and not
XML (which is what just about every other music api serves), so it means incorporating another
parser in my code. The folks at YES are thinking about making an XML version, so even this gripe
may be short-lived. p The API terms of use are quite reasonable - if you use their data on a web
site, you must link back to YES.com. Commercial use is available and often immediately granted by
just ensuring proper linking. p This API has lots of data that hasnt been easily available before -
data that can be used to enable music discovery, playlist generation, trend spotting. Well done to
the Yes.com developers for providing such a clean and easy to use API - and well done to the
Yes.com business folk who realize the value in making this data available. (And, by the way, the a
href=http://www.yes.com/#YES_LobbyYes.com/a site itself is pretty cool).

My situation. Two Apple computers, one iMac 2.8 Ghz and one MBP 2.16 Ghz, both with 10.5.5, an
Apple TV 160GB (with 2.3 software) and Airport Extreme (7.3.2 software). The AE is @ 5Ghz with
802.11n only (I got cordless speakers @ 2.4Ghz, so I chose the 5 Ghz for the AE)
I hooked the iMac to the AppleTV which is in the living room, next to the Airport Extreme.
Streaming HD-content on my AppleTV is surprisingly smooth (as it should be imho).
However, when I use AirTunes on AppleTV, after a few minutes the iMac gets disconnected from my AE,
leaving me without any internet connection and music from AirTunes. I have to 'disable' airport and
then 'enable' it again to get my internet connection working again. However, it will disconnect
again a few moments later. However, all the time this is happening, the WiFi internet connection on
my MBP and iPhone is working flawless.
This is driving me crazy, to say the least. Here's what I've done so far
- Used the MBP for streaming to airtunes: same problem as with the iMac. The internet connection
drops on my MBP, while on the iMac and iPhone, it's still working flawless
- Changed 5 Ghz to any available mode on the AE (802.11n with b/g; 2.4 Ghz).
- No wireless security
- No MAC-address security
- Reset the AE
- Shut down all the interfering appliances (such as my mobile phone and cordless speakers)
- Reinstalled OSX Leopard on my iMac (the MBP is a work-based machine and I refuse to reinstall it
for some airtunes problem).
- Reset the AppleTV
All without any luck. The internet connection dropped twice while writing this post and, like I
said, this is really driving me crazy. I haven't always had this problem, so I'm inclined to
believe this is a software problem. However, my software knowledge is quite limited: other than the
things I tried I have no clue what to do.
So any help is greatly appreciated.

I have 1450 songs in my iTunes library, all of which are AAC (320kbps) encoded.
I've run out of room on my 16GB iPhone 3G and I like to have all my music and a few videos on
there.
Would it be worth me converting my entire library to MP3 to save space on my iPhone as MP3s are
about half the size of my AAC 320kbps?
Thanks for your help! :)

Here’s a rumor that won’t go away - Facebook has been quietly searching for a
partner to take over their year and a half old
classified listings application, and may relaunch as early as the end of December.
According to our sources, Facebook distributed a request-for-proposal to a number of classified
sites earlier this year (the same model they are using for
Facebook Music).
The obvious partner is Oodle, which began powering
Walmart Classifieds earlier this year. We’ve heard thin reports that they in fact have
won the contract.
Whoever powers Facebook Classifieds has a big hill to climb. Competing with Ebay (and their
Kijiji) and Craigslist isn’t trivial. The original thought was that social networks were
great for classifieds because you the buyers and sellers know each other. But Facebook’s
current classifieds system shows anemic listings - the Silicon Valley network, for example, had a
total of ten new listings added yesterday. And for those who’ve forgotten, Microsoft
launched their own
classifieds site based on MSN friends and private networks (like businesses), and it went
nowhere.
Part of the problem is the limited functionality of the existing classifieds system, which allows
a short listing, a picture and communication via Facebook’s messaging system. Better
software may mean more listings (although the bare-bones and massive Craigslist is a clear
exception to that rule). Oodle, or whoever wins the contract, may also bring lots of listings
from their other networks.
If Facebook gets this right there is a potential for lucrative advertising dollars - people
looking to buy stuff are easy targets.

hi not sure if this is the right forum to post on but please someone help!!!!
my macbook started crashing ( i think after someone clicked install updates as this has happened
before) but after a few tries it would eventually restart and work, this continued getting
worse
it's now at the stage where upon powering up it immeadiately displays
your computer must be restarted, and each time it is the same happens
my ex had my osx disks so have waited a month for a new set i ordered to try and boot from disk,
but before the disk has a chance to run i get the restart screen
does anyone know a way to force the laptop to boot from disk, or any other idea to fix it?
it contains all my files, music and photos (which i'd just bought a dvd burner to back-up and it
wouldn't work!) so ideally i'd like to save it!
there was a virus sent out through a networking site just before the crashing happened, is it
possible the virus has done the damage?
aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
any help would be greatly appreciated thankyou :)
