pClimate change caused by rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) is now widely
recognized. But the other side of the equation--the massive absorption of CO2 by the ocean--has
received far less attention. The planetrsquo;s seas quickly absorb 25 to 30 percent of
humankindrsquo;s CO2 emissions and about 85 percent in the long run, as water and air mix at the
oceanrsquo;s surface. We have ldquo;disposedrdquo; of 530 billion tons of the gas in this way, and
the rate worldwide is now one million tons per hour, faster than experienced on earth for tens of
millions of years. We are acidifying the ocean and fundamentally changing its remarkably delicate
geochemical balance. Scientists are only beginning to investigate the consequences, but comparable
natural changes in our geologic history have caused several mass extinctions throughout the
earthrsquo;s waters./ppThat careful balance has survived over time because of a near equilibrium
among the acids emitted by volcanoes and the bases liberated by the weathering of rock. The pH of
seawater has remained steady for millions of years. Before the industrial era began, the average pH
at the ocean surface was about 8.2 (slightly basic; 7.0 is neutral). Today it is about 8.1./p a

Plastic products contain endocrine disrupting chemicals that can block the production of the male
sex hormone testosterone (phthalates used in PVC plastic), mimic the action of the sex hormone
estrogen (bisphenol A or BPA used in polycarbonate plastic), and interfere with thyroid hormone
(brominated flame retardants or PBDEs used in many types of plastic). nbsp; nbsp; Two articles
report very similar changes in male reproductive organs in rats and humans related to fetal
exposure to phthalates. Two articles show that fetal exposure to BPA or PBDEs disrupts normal
development of the brain and behavior in rats and mice. Two other articles provide data that these
chemicals are massively contaminating the oceans and causing harm to aquatic wildlife.

Square Enix plans to launch Star Ocean: First Departure on 24th October.
This PSP remake will mark the first time the original SNES Star Ocean story has been told outside
of Japan.
And better technology means a revised game engine and better battle system, as well as fully voiced
and animated cut-scenes. Voice acting - we should try that. No I will not stop mentioning it.
Star Ocean is an RPG made by Japanese outfit tri-Ace, which is hard at work on a fourth game in the
series for Xbox 360 next year.
The developer is also remaking Star Ocean 2 (Second Evolution) for PSP, although no date has been
mentioned outside of Japan.

So the much hyped Valhalla Knights 2 has come and to everyone's surprise - or not - the game seems
like it sucks as bad as the first one. IGN already gave it a 5.0 and after watching pictures and
reading the review I'm not appealed to play the game at all (and I am a huge RPG fan).
And that begs the question: Why Sony? Why do you let these useless games be released on your
hardware?
P.S. -> Has anyone enjoyed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed? I did like it at first but then the
gameplay became too repetitive and there was no depth... Another one that went right back to the
store...
I'm expecting Star Ocean: First Departure though... S-E always delivers when it comes to rpgs

Third party games are going to be the highlights at Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show
booth since Microsoft isn’t bringing many first party games to the show. Don’t expect
to play Gears of War 2 or catch a glimpse of Halo Wars here. The only Microsoft published games are
Fable II and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, and if you count international releases Ninja
Blade. Good thing they have Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope, The Last Remnant, and a handful of
shooters on display. 5bp’s Cave ports will be at the show sitting next to Otomedius Gorgeous
which fell off the radar after Konami spontaneously delayed it.
Here’s the full list, translated into English, for you to peruse.

Archie Shepp - Chet Baker Quintet -
In Memory Of (1989)MP3 | 320kbps | RS.com | 168mb | Cover | 5% File RecoveryGenre: Jazz /
cool Chet seems out of place in this odd pairing with the bluesy sax man, Shepp. The tenor sax
great dominates these recordings, while Baker does have much to offer, his solos are short and
tentative. Later tracks get better. On How Deep is The Ocean, Chet blows a reserved, but sweet
solo. He contributes some lively phrases to Old Devil Moon. Two months after these concerts, Chet
Baker was scheduled to perform with Archie Shepp on May 12th, 1988 in Laren. He never showed up for
that concert, and was found dead hours later in Amsterdam. - chetbakertribute.com

The basic proposition behind the science of climate change is so firmly rooted in the laws of
physics that no reasonable person can dispute it. All other things being equal, adding carbon
dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere--by, for example, burning millions of tons of oil, coal and
natural gas--will make it warm up. That, as the Nobel Prize–winning chemist Svante
Arrhenius first explained in 1896, is because CO2 is relatively transparent to visible light from
the sun, which heats the planet during the day. But it is relatively opaque to infrared, which
the earth tries to reradiate back into space at night. If the planet were a featureless,
monochromatic billiard ball without mountains, oceans, vegetation and polar ice caps, a steadily
rising concentration of CO2 would mean a steadily warming earth. Period.
But the earth is not a billiard ball. It is an extraordinarily complex, messy geophysical system
with dozens of variables, most of which change in response to one another. Oceans absorb vast
amounts of heat, slowing the warm-up of the atmosphere, yet they also absorb excess CO2.
Vegetation soaks up CO2 as well but eventually rereleases the gas as plants rot or burn--or,
in a much longer-term scenario--drift to the bottom of the ocean to form sedimentary rock such as
limestone. Warmer temperatures drive more evaporation from the oceans; the water vapor itself is
a heat-trapping gas, whereas the clouds it forms block some of the sun’s warming rays.
Volcanoes belch CO2, but they also spew particulates that diffuse the sun’s rays. And
that’s just a partial list.

Get ready to fight to dead for this one, Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks: More than
a thousand penguins have suddenly appeared on the beaches of Brazil. The scientists can't explain
why this is happening. Some say they are somehow confused. Knowing the views in Brazil's
beaches, I personally think they are not confused at all. Brazilian National Institute for
Space Research climatologist Jose Marengo thinks the penguins—who are
being airlifted back to its origin by the air force—got lost because of
changes in the ocean circulation in the South Atlantic: Clearly we've been seeing changes in the
ocean circulation in the Southern Hemisphere. The question for the future, and we don't have an
answer yet, is how is that going to shift against the backdrop of climate change?
The story here, however, is that the Brazilian Air Force is going to be flying the penguins back to
South Atlantic, possibly in freezing chambers onboard cargo airplanes. Oh yes, and they are
so cute that I'm about to have a diabetes arrest.
