ink writes Sun released JavaFX 1.0 today, in a bid to take on Adobes Flash and Microsofts
Silverlight technologies. It is Suns first Java release to include standardized, cross-platform
audio and video playback code (in the form of On2 licensed codecs). The lack of a Linux or Solaris
release is a notable absence. The development kit currently consists of the base run-time, a
NetBeans/Eclipse plug-in and a set of artifact exporters for Adobe CS 3amp;4. An anonymous reader
adds a link to several tutorials accompanying the new release.pa

Boxee, the excellent, multi-platform, FOSS social media frontend has
received a major upgrade: it now supports
Netflix and all its functions — queue, watch instantly, and so on. In addition to that and
all the regular bugfixes, they've updated the look and feel of some of the major media sites: Hulu
is now a little more native-looking, Youtube supports "higher quality video playback" (whether it
was a Boxee or Youtube limitation before is not clear), and also updates integration with Apple
movie trailers, Flickr, MTV Music, and a host of other sites. Not bad at all! If I had a TV, I'd
definitely be using Boxee or a Popcorn Hour.

News/release from silmarilion
Hi there, i'm here to release GameMusicGear_MX Version 1.0 (no more release candidate this time
).
The most important changes are the addition of a 10 band equalizer with preset support, a new
browser/playlist behavior and several new input and visual plugins .
Here is the changelog:
Quote:
Version 1.0
+ add new vis_plasma visual plugin.
+ add info tag charset conversion.
Available charsets are: UTF-8, GBK, BIG5, SHIFT-JIS, EUC-KR, MS-EE, MS-CYRL, ISO-8859-1,
ISO-8859-2
You must change this value manually from the main config file.
+ ADD new browser-playlist behavior more ala winamp: you can browse
any folder and play or enqueue files to the playlist, wich is saved
in m3u format.
+ ADD psf input plugin . For now in_psf doesn't support equalization nor
volume boost.
+ ADD new mp3 input plugin based on the pspsdk's pspmp3 library:
Currently it doesn't support ff/rewind but consumes less battery life.
It only suppports files with 44k sampling rate.
+ add s98 input plugin.
+ add new vis_cube visual plugin
+ add new vis_gel visual plugin
+ add Steven Wittens's UnConeD Goldie semiclone 3d visual plugin (vis_goldie).
+ add hprm support .
+ add show attached picture in fullscreen visual mode.
+ ADD real time equalizer with presets support.
+ add implemented a 'semi' sleep mode. Clock is changed to 22 hz and
screen and power led are turned off.
+ add changed skins settings to a more friendly xml style format.
+ add (PSP Slim Only) Support for 7zip compressed files.
+ add ...
* fix selector is now placed in the last folder when browsing back.
* fix selected plugins are now shown first when entering setup.
* fix in_sid input plugin is now based on libsidplay1 since it was having
some issues with the libsidplay2 engine .
* fix songs with different samplerate than 44k and 48k caused a crash,
well for now only 44k and 48k samplerates are supported .
* fix files with different language names were not played at all.
* fix album art was not found sometimes.
* fix nsfe info was not shown properly.
* fix display bug when browsing plugin settings.

iHome's iP47 speakerphone has an unbelievable amount of integrated functions, like A2DP stereo
Bluetooth connectivity, iPhone/iPod docking, GSM interference shielding, iPod alarm clock playback,
AM/FM radio and on-board dialing direct from the unit. And, it has a remote control. It's one of
the only iPhone speakerphone units out there now./p pscript type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"
galleryPost('ihomeip47', 3, ''); /script/p pstrongThe Price/strong: $199/p pstrongThe
Verdict/strong: Good, but not fantasticmdash;and a bit pricey. For all the functions it has, each
one has a small flaw that prevents the whole from being spectacular./p pThe main point of the iP47
is the speakerphone functionality, which connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth (not via dock
connector). The speakers for speakerphoning sound fantastic, but the microphone is definitely less
impressive. Everyone we called said we sounded like we were on speakerphone and had varying degrees
of difficulty understanding us once we moved too far away from the base. But, it was a joy for
ius/i to use it, no matter what the other people said. Their voices came through quite nicely, and
it can be bloud/b./p pOther bits like iPod music playback and AM/FM radio were alright, but not
great. The speakers are slightly tinny for the size, and in general the sound reproduction can be
described as top-heavy. For playing back music as an alarm clock in the mornings, it's definitely
more than adequate, but it's no substitute for a decent speaker system./p pWe didn't get a chance
to test the A2DP stereo Bluetooth playback, but other features like alarm clock, radio, and the
remote all worked fine./p pThe biggest function is the speakerphone, which, like we said, works
just fine on our end. You can charge your iPhone at the same time you're talking (iPhone 3G
compatible) and even leave your phone in another room and still be able to converse. The price is
fairly steep at $199, but for users who NEED a better speakerphone than the one built in, we'd
recommend it. [a href="http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?product_id=10247"iHome/a]/p br

Newly updated release from Patrik Rak
ZXDS is an emulator of Sinclair ZX Spectrum for Nintendo DS, written by Patrik Rak. It is steadily
reaching a mature stage of development, and it already has some noteworthy features, like accurate
emulation of Spectrum 48k, 128k and Pentagon models (including sound), or support for TAP/TZX/PZX
tape files, TRD/SCL disk files and RZX playback files.
ZXDS 0.8.1 beta 2 (3.12.2008)
* Tweaked RZX code to work with more nonconformant but commonly available recordings.
* Worked around sound clamping while keeping the sound loud by throwing dummy sample into the
mix.
I knew there must have been a reason why I didn't use sound bias 0 alone long time ago.
ZXDS 0.8.1 beta 1 (27.11.2008)
+ RZX playback (no SZX snapshot support yet, though).
+ Files stored in ZIP archives can be browsed and loaded directly.
+ Support for poke cheats in POK file format, including autoload.
+ Added log screen for better problem diagnostics, especially those RZX related.
+ Turn off the bottom screen backlight after configurable timeout.
+ Automatically save state and enter sleep mode when the lid is closed.
* Alternatively boot from saves/boot.z80 instead of last session state.
* Skip loading of either state upon startup when L/R buttons are held.
* Replaced few busy loops with inactive waits to further improve battery life.
* Improved the last menu action to cycle through all recently used views.
* Extended the range of both AY and speaker samples to make the sound louder.
* Tweaked the Z80 snapshot loading code to support some less conformant files. Download and

Flickr has just rolled out a new mobile site, adding
some significant improvements to its interface as well as adding a few new features you can now
use on-the-go. Additions include video playback (on devices that support it), as well as the
ability to add new contacts, favorite images, and make changes to privacy settings from m.flickr.com.
Some of these features were already available in beta to iPhone users, but Flickr indicates that
with today’s launch, they’ll also be accessible on devices using other mobile
browsers including Opera Mini, Firefox Mobile and Webkit.
In-line with the boom we’ve seen elsewhere in mobile usage, Flickr says that their mobile
site has seen a 50% increase in users since last year. With the upgrade, the site is a fairly
complete mobile version of the Web experience, building on existing options for uploading photos
and seeing uploads from your friends and the Flickr community at-large.
Here’s what a couple of the new features look like:

Flickr has released a
new version of its mobile site that affords
several new features, most notably the ability to stream video clips
up to 90-seconds in length.
Video streaming will be initially available for only the iPhone and iPod Touch, with support for
other handsets that use Webkit, Firefox Mobile, or Opera Mini to come. Previously, users could
upload videos to Flickr from mobile devices but this is the first time they can actually
watch them on their phones.
Mobile playback for Flickr is based on Yahoo’s Video Platform, which can serve content to
various device types, screen sizes and codecs. In addition to video playback support, the new
mobile site supports the favoriting of photos and videos, as well as the changing of photo
permissions. Flickr doesn’t have a native application for iPhone or Android, so this mobile
site is intended to be a universal access point for all device types.

height="297" style="display:block;" / Mac OS X only: Using your Mac's iSight camera to detect the
hand gestures you make in front of it, free utility FluidTunes controls your iTunes library
playback based on those motions. File this under "really cool but not sure I'd actually use it
every day": you swipe your hand back and forth in the air in front of your Mac to move through your
iTunes library in Cover Flow mode, and then swipe at a button to play a selected album. FluidTunes
shows what you look like on your camera behind your album covers, so you can center your hand over
buttons to press them. (It's dim, but it's theremdash;in the screenshot above the user's hand is at
the bottom of the screen.) While not touching the keyboard, mouse, or any other digital remote to
play your music is amazing, you'll look like a flailing crazy person while you use FluidTunes.
