The MAKE/CDM/Etsy sonic fun-derland event returns - this time @ our new location, Third Ward in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY! Kicking off the new
monthly schedule, the first meet-up will be Thursday, Dec. 11th. Peter of CDM gives details
-Bonus – Make Your Own Beep-It Optical Theremin. For the cost
of parts (about $10), Mike Una is giving a workshop – no experience required,
and you’ll leave with your own Beep-It. (Space is limited!)
Double Bonus – You! We’re looking for hardware and
software projects to share.
Not in New York? Stay tuned – we’ll have some ways to
join up live online with both the CDM community and the Etsy community.
Party: 7-10p, 12/11 (snacks/drinks + lots of sounds for everyone, from
non-musicians to hardcore musical hackers!)
Make Your Own Beep-It Workshop: 7:30-8:30p (arrive promptly!)
Here’s what the event is about, as described by, well, me:
Part party, part mixer, part Science Fair, and part performance, this is an informal chance for
geeksters and the geek-curious to come together, relax, and discover new sounds. The evening is a
gathering of inventors of circuit-bent toys, custom software and patches, interactive digital
& visual instruments, custom electronics, electricity-powered noisemakers, DIY robots and new
acoustic instruments. And it’s open to everyone from hard-core hackers & newcomers to
music lovers who want to learn about the DIY music scene.
And here’s a big bonus: if you liked Michael Una’s Beep-It DIY optical Theremin, as
debuted here, you can make your own for the low, low price of parts: about ten bucks.
Michael Una will demonstrate his optical theremin synthesizer Beep-it and conduct a workshop
wherein attendees will build their own optical theremin. The basics of analog synthesis will be
discussed. No skill level is required- all tools and parts will be provided by the participation
fee.
Pay for your parts by Wednesday 12/10, and reserve your spot at the workshop, at
EventBrite: http://beepit.eventbrite.com/
Logo design by the amazing creator of the CDM logos and endless musical posters, Nat aka onetonnemusic.
See you next week, in New York or online!
We welcome people showing up with gear and creations at the last minute –
bring cables, an extension cord, and (if you’ve got it) small speakers / headphones / PA
(though we’ll do our best to provide some sound). But it does help to know who’s
coming if you want to give us some advance warning, and we can help publicize your work in
advance. Head over to Create Digital Music to fill out the
project submission form. I'm quite psyched for this - it's been a while since the last event
and this one looks to be fully awesome!

With the recession and the collapse of the housing market, more and more couples who have broken up
are continuing to live under the same roof, according to judges and divorce lawyers. Some are
waiting for housing prices to rebound; some are trying to get back on their feet financially. nbsp;
nbsp; The phenomenon is being felt around the country but most keenly in areas hit harder by
foreclosure, such as the Sun Belt. nbsp; nbsp; When the real estate market was booming, couples
would promptly sell their home, split the profits and go their separate ways. nbsp; nbsp; These
days, Florida Judge John C. Lenderman said, about a third of his cases involve homes that are in
foreclosure or that a family is struggling to sell. Lenderman said he has never seen anything like
it in 40 years as a lawyer and judge.

that his son a href="http://thesuperficial.com/2008/11/ashlee_simpson_has_a_boy.php"Bronx Mowgli
Wentz/a was an accident. For those of you thinking, "OMG, what if his son reads that?" I'm sure his
reaction will be along the lines of "Yes! FUCK YES! These people didn't have me on purpose! Now I
can stop murdering hitchhikers." God, that's heartwarming. Anyway, here's Pete's story:
blockquoteWhen Wentz found out Simpson was pregnant, he was in Chile with Fall Out Boy, preparing
to play a show in nearby Antarctica. "I was like, 'Oh my God, this might be the worst possible time
to have this conversation,'" he says. Perhaps to make sure the news had sunk in, Simpson promptly
e-mailed a snapshot of the pregnancy test. (Us Weekly, eat your heart out). "I was definitely
scared," Wentz says, "just thinking, This is something that's going to exist for the rest of your
life and you can't fuck it up."br Wentz allows that the pregnancy was unplanned. "It was a happy
accident," he says. "But I think that certain things happen for a reason in your life, and maybe it
was time to put the wild child in a cage."/blockquote emAfter that, Pete Wentz vowed never to have
sex with a woman ever again. Which is why to this day, children, on a quiet night, you can still
hear Ashlee Simpson's father saying "Daddy's just down the hall, sweetheart." ~The End~/em div

leaks/pp"I was not told that the police did not have a warrant," Martin told MPs. I regret that a
consent form was then signed by the serjeant at arms without consulting the clerk."/ppHe added: "I

were of "grave concern" to all MPs and announced that he would set up a committee of seven senior
MPs, nominated by him, to investigate the case and make recommendations./ppThe police raid on
Green's offices last Thursday prompted outrage among MPs on all sides, who considered it a breach
of parliamentary privilege./ppHowever, Martin reminded MPs that chapter seven of Erskine May

Quote: A hunter who shot a large deer in America found himself on the receiving end of an
unexpected backlash.
Randy Goodman, 49, said that he thought two well-placed shots with his .270-caliber rifle had
killed the buck, which he shot while hunting in Missouri.
Goodman said the deer looked dead to him - but seconds later the 240lb animal came impressively
back to life.
It promptly got to its feet, turned its attention to Goodman, knocked him over and attacked him
with its antlers. Goodman described the attack as '15 seconds of hell,' which perhaps suggests a
slight lack of empathy with the deer's feelings on the matter.
Sadly for the deer, however, its pretending-to-be-dead-then-goring-the-dude gambit didn't pay off
– Goodman shot it two more times, after which it really was dead.
But it left its mark on the hunter – after killing the deer, Goodman
noticed that he was covered in blood, and had to drive himself to hospital to have seven staples
stuck into his head. Metro.
Shame he was eventually able to kill it, but rather rocking that the deer was able to inflict a
good amount of damage first* :D
*yes, unless you need to kill to eat, I don't like hunters.
