Codestore Activity Log -

One of the things holding me back from making DEXT available (apart form lack of time) was knowing
the best way to deploy it. Because of the mix of JavaScript libraries in use (Prototype, DOJO,
Mootools and jQuery) I had put all the files in a DB called toolkits.nsf which I bundled in to the download.
The trouble is that it made the additional database ~120MB and the Zipped download 25MB. Not that
that's much by today's standards, but it made uploading new releases a bit of a pain for me.
To get round this I've opted to load all the various JavaScript libraries from Google's Ajax API "CDN". If you look again at the
source code for a demo form on the app you'll see the libraries loaded like so:
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/prototype/1.6.0.3/prototype.js"
type="text/javascript"></script>
Note the lack of "http:" from the URL. This allows you to switch to and from using SSL without
worrying about "mixed content".
You can read mode about the benefits of using a third-party CDN in this
write-up.
While I have my reservations about doing it this way I just think it makes the most sense. It's
just a shame there's no hosted version of Ext. Apparently there
never will be as Google don't want to host anything with less than a completely open licence.
My "codestore time" for today has been spent moving to this new way of doing things, so you'll
have to wait another day for the download. I still need to work out how to provide it without the
1,000s of demo documents currently in it but with enough to make the demos work.

We don't get out too often (blogger skin burns easily); the closest to the great outdoors we come
is squinting longingly through windows gone opaque thanks to lack of cleaning. We'd nearly resigned
ourselves to a life lived of dim illumination, but now have new hope thanks to Winboni, an
award-winning prototype robot from four mechanical engineering students at Michigan State
University. The 5 x 5-inch bot uses a fan to stick to the window (not unlike like Takara Tomy's
wall-climbing
AeroSpider, makes a great gift), and
relies on two AA batteries to motor itself around the window, scrubbing all the while. We
definitely like the concept and its promise of extra light for our dwellings, but until this thing
can find a way to get from one pane to the next without us having to get out of our chairs we'll
sadly have to keep squinting through the grime.

br / The graphic is now the original size, it was getting stretched to fill the larger window.br /
br / Robot does not have a name. I was just thinking about that yesterday. We've had him for over 5
years now. You're welcome to make a suggestion.br / br / We have a prototype of a French Maid robot

Convoy/a, a version of Optimus Prime in Japan that transforms into a Nissan GT-R, comes another new
toy in the same series by TakaraTOMY. What bot would be a better followup to Prime than Megatron?
Instead of the classic weapon shape that we've grown accustomed to for the ultimate Transformer
baddie, Alternity Megatron's alt-mode is a Nissan 370Z. Here we have a problem, as Megatron's car
mode takes a decided back seat to Prime's GT-R. Still, the GT-R and Fairlady Z (what they call the
370Z in Japan) are both made by Nissan and the two leaders are actually brothers in the
Transformers universe.br /br /No matter, as diehard Transformer fans are sure to overlook the
obvious Decepticon snub. What they may not forgive, however, is Megatron dropping his cannon for a
pair of swords. br /br /Like Alternity Convoy, Megatron is officially licensed from Nissan and die
cast in metal. Those wanting to get their hands on the latest Alternity bot can choose from silver
or blue. emThanks for the tip, 94 Taurus owner/em!br /br /div class="postgallery"pstrongGallery: a
