 Microsoft
might have bagged a big PS3 exclusive at E3 with Final Fantasy XIII. But, Sony Computer
Entertainment honcho Kaz Hirai really does not want any Xbox 360 exclusives. Like at all. Even
abstractly! In an E3 interview with Swedenish daily Aftonbladet, Hirai reportedly says
he'd take a bullet to the head over taking an Xbox 360 exclusive. Harsh! In the past few days,
Microsoft and Sony have been trading barbs like crazy. It's like 2006 all over again. Anyway,
here's the exchange, kindly translated by Kotakuite Mordochai: Aftonbladet: If you
had to choose ONE exclusive Xbox 360 title and launch it for the PS3 instead, which game would it
be?
Hirai: I don't think I have to choose any.....
Aftonbladet: You have to pick one.
Hirai: Again, I don't think I have to pick one because we have such a fantastic
lineup of games.
Aftonbladet: But if someone is holding a gun to your head and you have to choose
one. Which game would it be?
Hirai: Okay.. then they have to shoot me, because I really don't think we need
any.
Kaz, you're making Giant Kaz Face sad.

My house was struck by lightning yesterday. It tripped all of my circuit breakers and surge
protectors and actually melted two of my 15 amp breakers in the box but still it fried my Xbox360
and my PS3. The TV and receiver survived but my Air Conditioning system, alarm system, wireless
router, and laptop were also destroyed  I had really nice surge protectors on everything but
even that wasn't enough to stop 1.21 Jiggawatts. My house is only 5 months old and still under
warranty but unfortunately it doesn't cover "acts of god" My homeowners insurance will cover
most of it but still what a pain in the ass!
Ok rant over

Whilst I'm here in Australia I am on a broadband download cap of 30GB. I normally use about 10GB of
this per month.
I am just about to buy a PS3 and will want to game online with it.
Does anyone know what ball-park figures we are talking about when it comes to data upload and
downloads whilst gaming online?
Thanks,
MadDoc,

 The
PlayStation store has updated today, bringing with it the survival horror creepiness of Siren:
Blood Curse, as well as bargains as far as the eye can see! The big news is of course Siren, a
Blu-ray-sized game cut up into bite-sized chunks for easy consumption. There are twelve chapters of
the game in all, sold in sets of four for $14.99, or in one big, money-saving $39.00 package. Siren
is joined by Capcom's 1942: Joint Strike, priced at a more modest $9.99.
In addition to the new games, some older titles are going on sale. For one week only, purchase
PAIN, PixelJunk Monsters, High Velocity Bowling, High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition, or
Rocketmen: Axis of Evil for only $4.99.
Topping it all off is a PixelJunk Eden demo, Guitar Hero and Rock Band DLC, and a fine assortment
of themes, videos, and wallpapers, including entries in each category for Capcom's Street Fighter
IV. Definitely a good week to own a PS3!

It's a big week for the PSN update, with a nice sale going on, Parappa the Rapper available as a
downloadable PS1 Classic and the addition of a PSN original, Siren: Blood Curse. Let's
start with the PS3's first survival horror game, Siren: Blood Curse, which has one of the
most unique cost models we've ever seen. The television show game comes in 12 episodes that players
can download in four-episode packs at $15, or just buy in its entirety for $40. We've yet to
actually play the game, so we can't make a recommendation, but there's also a demo available, which
is certainly worth trying first. The full game fills up a whopping 9 gigglebytes on the PS3's hard
drive.
Select PSN games are available for $5 this week only, including: PixelJunk Monsters,
PAIN and Rocketmen. Don't forget to download the PixelJunk Eden demo! There's plenty of other stuff too, check it all out
after the break.
The European PSN update can be found over at PS3 Fanboy. Tragically, our European writer has been watching the Big Brother
house non-stop, so he can't give us a report on Siren either. Continue reading PSN Thursday: Fall victim to Siren: Blood Curse; select PSN
titles on sale for $5

Have you had the unfortunate need of having to contact the Request Tracker
(rt@ubuntu.com)? If you have, you probably know what I mean when I say it can be a very
frustrating thing to do.
When I started the ubuntu-cell mailing list, it took
about 2 months to get a reply (not get it done, just a reply). Now, with the need of
hosting for the PS3 Port, I’m pretty sure it won’t take any less time. 1 month and 6
days … And counting!
Seriously, does anyone else besides me thinks this is absurd?

Have you ever had that dream where you're running down a hallway but are unable to reach the exit
because the doorway is constantly stretching out of reach? For fans of Burnout Paradise for the
Xbox 360, this has become a waking nightmare, as Criterion has again pushed back the title's
forthcoming "Cagney" update until early August.
Criterion is currently "aiming" to release the free update on August 4, nearly a month after the
patch arrived on the PS3. However, according to a post on the dev's website, this merely represents
the "earliest" that we can expect it to show up. Interestingly, while the previous hold-up was laid
at the feet of Xbox Live's burdensome certification process, this latest information indicates that
the update, much like the patience of street carnage virtuosos, is now in the "final stages of
testing."

SEGA has announced solid release dates for upcoming titles including Samba de Amigo and Valkyria
Chronicles.
Musical monkey Samba de Amigo and tattooed PS2 action-adventure Yakuza 2 arrive on 19th September,
according to the SEGA list. BioWare's role-playing interpretation of Sonic for DS, Sonic
Chronicles, arrives a week later on 26th September.
Then, in November, we've got the attractive Valkyria Chronicles on PS3 - a blend of strategy and
action painted in watercolour visuals. Interesting, to say the least.
The games listed as next year we already knew about. Empire: Total War is on 6th Feb, Sonic and the
Black Knight for Wii is set for a spring launch, and Stormrise is due sometime in 2009.
And in the immediate future, there's the PC version of Beijing Olympics, due out on 9th August.
Hopefully it will fare better than the lacklustre console versions.

So what really caused the delay for SCEE's Wipeout HD? Was it really
because it failed an epilepsy test as some reports would have us believe?
According to SCEE, "The reason for the delay of Wipeout HD on PS3 has been to to the many
improvements we have been making and the numerous features we've added to the game."
Improvements and features, huh? Yep, and they're actually exciting stuff. These improvements
include eight reverse tracks, four extra ships, two alternative HUDS, 2-Player offline split screen
and XMB
Trophy support.
But we have to admit that doesn't really clear up the issue on epilepsy. So does the game really
cause an attack? "Regarding the speculation about health issues, we can assure you that we take
consumer safety very seriously and monitor it very carefully."
Well that's still a bit too sketchy, don't you think? Oh well, for as long as they're not launching
an epilepsy-triggering game to the market, we're more than fine with the delay. Plus it looks like
we're getting more goodies out of it, so yeah. No sweat.
