Hello All,
I am not the only coming on this site only for help. I have other posts too. But this time I really
need soem guidance.
My MBp started making fan humming noise and Apple was good enough to send me a new one. I have both
in front of me. The old one has LG screen and the ne wone has Chi Mei (9c95). I hate the dullness
of this screen as compared to LG.
Last night I made my old MBPs fans run at 6000 rpm for 3 hours and the fan noise is not reduce. It
is so low that I will only hear if I put my ear towards it.
Should I keep my old one and return back the new one, because I like the screen and audio quality
of old one better. If the fan noise is a concern, then I will send that back and use the new one. I
will feel very sorry though to have a dull screen.
I am positive that the noise is from fan, because it is coming from left side under the keyboard,
and the frequescy increases with increase in speed. I can always get the fans changed if they get
worst in time. But I am just concerned if I keep my old MBP will my CPU actually overheat as
compared to the new one and do so other bad things?
I know some of you know how the hardware is assembled. The fan noise might just be a brearing issue
or somethnig is getting stuck or the fan actually is not rotating at the set speed.
Please advise.

Hey guys, soon Il be heading off to college so I wanted a new laptop for Christmas. I was searching
for high quality laptops and came across the new MacBook and instantly fell in love with it. I
would REALLY prefer the 2.4 because of the speed and keyboard, plus, I intend to keep it for a few
years so I figured the 2.4 would be the way to go.
The problem is convincing my dad to shell out that kind of cash, so this will probly be my only
present for Christmas lol. I know that there is a student discount which will help my dad out so I
was wondering if anyone knew how much the discount would take off of the $1600 price tag.
Also, when (if) I think that he is going to get it, Im getting myself the 4gb ram and 320gb 7200
rpm hdd!

I made my homework, and I am quite tired of searching...
I am still confused. :(
My computer:
My MacBook Pro Intel
2.33 Core 2 Duo
17" Display
160 GB Hard drive.
I need a lot of space and a fast HD, so I saw excellent reviews on the 320 GB, 7200 RPM hard drive
from Seagate, so excited, I was about to purchase it, but...
First Diemma:
I was looking to buy the Seagate Momentus 7200.3 Hard drive (300 GB, 7200 RPM)
There is 2 versions: ST9320421AS and ST9320421ASG
What is the difference and does it affect me?
Second dilemma:
I found this hard drive:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Hard Drive (500 GB, 7200 RPM)
I found only one version: ST3500630A
Would this HD fit and work with my Mac Book? Should I purchase this one instead of the 320 GB?
Thank you!

Ok so i bought it day of release, arrived like 2 weeks later. Specs:
15.4 inch
2.5 ghz
2 MB RAM
250gb 5200 rpm HDD
It is turned off for a max of 2 hours a day. Used mostly word processing and surfing with
occasional burning, video editing and gaming (yeah i bought for screen size but like the speed when
i need it). So how long do you guys reckon this bad boy will hold out before something decides to
die? Just thought before i went out and bought applecare i should check
