We've seen capacity LED indicators on notebook batteries, we've seen rudimentary indicators on
hard drives, but this is definitely a nice little bonus for users looking at a fast and easy way
to check the capacity of their external hard drives.
Lenovo released its newest external hard drive concept featuring a touch-sensitive display
showing how much space is left on the hard drive. The hard drive's ability of not having to be
plugged in to check space is perhaps superfluous and unnecessary, but it's still pretty cool.
With a swipe of the finger over the sensor brings the display to life. Maybe they can integrate
128-bit or 256-bit security into the finger swiper similar to a fingerprint scanner so you can
access the drive and see the remaining capacity in the near future, which would make
this hard drive something to seriously consider. As of now, it's just a cool gimmick that sets
this external HD apart from the crowd. What would you want to see integrated into the finger
scanner?

LG has more or less finished their sequel to the Prada,
unimaginatively known as the Prada II. This
model will come with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard in addition to the following specifications
(something we lacked in our earlier
post) :-
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz)
- 950mAh battery
- 240×400 3.0? screen
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash and VGA recording
- Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Infineon MP-EH + M180 chipset
- Motion sensor
- FM radio
Hopefully the operating system is something worth using, as the iPhone has already proven -
hardware specifications aren't as important as the user experience and ease-of-use, just take a
look at the DS Lite.

We've been following this for a little while to let some meat
stick on the skeletal rumors, and it's finally feeling substantial enough—though definitely
still a rumor—to throw your way. It looks like Nikon's got a 41-megapixel medium format (MX)
sensor up its sleeve, which is most likely for a digital rangefinder. Nikon itself
teases something BIG for the Wedding & Portrait Photographer International convention in
Feb. in the pages of Rangefinder magazine. Finally, Nikon
Watch has a tip (albeit unsubstantiated) that the MX format sensor is 48x48mm and in fact
48MP, and will go inside of a digital rangefinder that's "not to [sic] dissimilar to the older
film Mamiya 6 camera philosophy." There's more.
Obviously, a new format means you'll need new glass. But, the tipster says that the rangefinder
will be able to use DX and FX lenses with a mount adapter, giving you crop factor of 1.5 for the
DX, 1 for the FX and 0.5 for MX lenses. When shooting with FX,you'll be able to rotate the sensor
crop from landscape to portrait instead of having to turn the whole camera, and somehow you'll
still get to shoot the full square resolution. And yes, this thing will have live view. Given
Nikon's penchant to leak like the Titanic, we'll know more about this puppy soon, no doubt.

The Watch Anywhere Monitoring Camera can catch your mate or
kids in the act of doing something that they would rather you not know. About the size of a
webcam, it installs in a room or car. When the motion sensor detects something, it sends a 3
second video to the owner’s cell phone. Users can also dial to receive images, listen with
its built-in mic, or set it up at night with infrared mode. Launched last week at the Melbourne
at Home Exhibition, it comes with a price of $495.00. We are thinking this is a bit too much Big
Brother for us.

Publication Date: 2008 Sep 3 PMID: 18768687Authors: Womelsdorf, T. - Anton-Erxleben, K. - Treue,
S.Journal: J NeurosciSelective attention is the top-down mechanism to allocate neuronal processing
resources to the most relevant subset of the information provided by an organism's sensors.
Attentional selection of a spatial location modulates the spatial-tuning characteristics (i.e., the
receptive fields of neurons in macaque visual cortex). These tuning changes include a shift of
receptive field centers toward the focus of attention and a narrowing of the receptive field when
the attentional focus is directed into the receptive field. Here, we report that when attention is
directed into versus of receptive fields of neurons in the middle temporal visual area (area MT),
the magnitude of the shift of the spatial-tuning functions is positively correlated with a
narrowing of spatial tuning around the attentional focus. By developing and applying a general
attentional gain model, we show that these nonmultiplicative attentional modulations of basic
neuronal-tuning characteristics could be a direct consequence of a spatially distributed
multiplicative interaction of a bell-shaped attentional spotlight with the spatially fined-grained
sensory inputs of MT neurons. Additionally, the model lets us estimate the spatial spread of the
attentional top-down signal impinging on visual cortex. Consistent with psychophysical reports, the
estimated size of the "spotlight of attention" indicates a coarse spatial resolution of attention.
These results illustrate how spatially specific nonmultiplicative attentional changes of
neuronal-tuning functions can be the result of multiplicative gain modulation affecting sensory
neurons in a widely distributed region in cortical space.post to:

The FCC didn't give us much to go on here besides these wireframe images and a few radiation
reports. From that we can tell you that Sony's about to release its new DSC-G3 Cyber-shot boasting
802.11b/g WiFi. As a followup to the WiFi-packing DSC-G1 announced more than a year ago, we're expecting the
3.5-inch LCD (now probably touchscreen like the T700)
to carryover with storage twisted above 2GB and a sensor bump into the 10.1 megapixel range like
Sony's new T500.
Just a guess though, we hope to hear more at the Photokina show later this month. Read | Permalink | Email

"Resco Bubbles is an action puzzle game where the idea is to clear the grid of bubbles in
order to advance to the next level. You are given a sequence of bubbles, which should be quickly
and efficiently popped. Numerous explosive, speed-up, slow-down and damage bubbles keep the game
play exciting and challenging."
Got a Touch Diamond or Touch Pro? Resco Bubbles is for you. It costs $14.95, but there is a free trial version, if you
prefer trying before buying. Oh, and in case you're wondering, the game supports gravitational
sensors, which is why the list of compatible devices is ever so short.

Kyocera's W64SA is a pretty unique handset that comes with dual illumination within, allowing
users to select two out of five colors available before making a purchase. The colors available
are red, blue, pink, yellow and green. These lights will illuminate whenever the handset is
folded, opened or recharged, as well when it is shaken vigorously thanks to the built-in
acceleration sensor. No idea on how much of a negative impact this will have on the battery life,
but it definitely scales up the coolness factor by more than a notch. You will also be able to
pick your own chassis color (white, black, pink and yellow), and these are connected to a
translucent piece of plastic to let the inner light shine through.
