After a teasing post on the blog last week, Opera 10 Alpha is now available for download.
Quote: It seems like yesterday we released Opera 9.6 and now you can all get your hands on Opera
10.0. Rather than ramble on, here's a quick list of what's new:
- Presto 2.2 Engine
- Performance boost
- 100/100 and pixel-perfect on the Acid3 test
- Auto-update
- Inline spelling checker
- Opera Mail improvements, including rich text composition and delete after X days
- Widget Improvements on Linux
Can't wait to get your hands on Opera 10.0 Alpha 1, then get it now! Obviously this is a little too
soon to expect the new UI so
it still runs with the old one from opera 9.6

Hi,
the wife has spent a day or 2 on the "tidying up" bits of a job... the last pedantic changes to
commas, words, spelling, etc.
But now the Quark file won't turn this file into a PDF!
Blaaargh! At some stage over the last day or so the computer must have crashed. Any ideas on how to
check for file corruption as we go? Any automated checks on files that would report any corruption
as they occur? Anything? Bueler? Bueler?

pstrong1998:/strong The space shuttle citeEndeavour/cite lifts off from Cape Canaveral, carrying
the first American-built component of the International Space Station. Two days later, the
connecting node known as Unity is coupled with Zarya (Sunrise), the Russian-built control module,
and the space station is a reality./p pFollowing a flawless ascent, the crew of six mdash; five
Americans and a Russian mdash; maneuvered citeEndeavour/cite to within a robot-arm's length of
Zarya, which had preceded the shuttle into space on Nov. 20. Once the shuttle had a firm grasp on
the Russian module, the job of a
href="http://www.pbs.org/spacestation/gallery/5_unity_zarya.htm"joining Unity and Zarya/a began./p
pThree spacewalks were performed to connect electrical and communications systems, and once the two
components were functioning harmoniously, mission specialists began preparing the a
href="http://www.wired.com/science/space/multimedia/2008/12/gallery_spacestation"space station/a to
receive its third module, which the Russians sent up the following year. The citeEndeavour/cite
astronauts also tested Zarya's battery supplies before heading home./p pThe space station's third
component was the service module, which arrived in July 1999. This represented a huge piece of the
overall puzzle, housing as it did the first living quarters for a station crew./p pThe a
href="http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/main/index.html"International Space Station/a was
assembled gradually, with most of the world's space-faring nations providing specific components,
which were then delivered on a regular basis by U.S. and Russian cargo ships. Following the a
href="http://www.space.com/columbiatragedy/"loss of the shuttle citeColumbia/cite/a in February
2003, the Russians took up the burden of shuttling supplies and components to the ISS until the a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle#Fleet_history"shuttle program was back/a on its
feet./p pNow, a decade later, expansion of the space station continues. It is easily the most
expensive construction project in history, and it got a little more expensive on Nov. 18 when a
spacewalking astronaut a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27784400/"lost her tool bag/a./p
pciteEndeavour/cite, incidentally, was named after 18th-century explorer James Cook's ship. Cook,
of course, was an Englishman, hence the British spelling of the word. The shuttle is currently
scheduled to be decommissioned in 2010./p pemSource: Various/em/pbr style="clear: both;"/ a

width="1" height="1" //divpThe Football Association is to write to Liverpool for an explanation
into the orchestrated support shown for the jailed fan Michael Shields during Monday's 0-0 draw
with West Ham United at Anfield./ppOfficials at Soho Square are considering whether to bring
disciplinary charges after taking exception at the manner in which Liverpool have publicly backed a
man who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the attempted murder of a Bulgarian waiter,
Martin Georgiev, in May 2005./ppAnother Liverpool fan admitted being responsible for the crime
before later retracting his confession and Shields' case will go before a high court review
tomorrow. The FA, however, is alarmed that Liverpool should openly use a live televised game to try
to influence the matter./ppRafael Beniacute;tez's players wore T-shirts bearing the slogan Free
Michael Now during their pre-match warm-up and the actress Sue Johnston was invited on to the pitch
with Shields' parents to make a speech calling for the justice secretary, Jack Straw, to "do the
right thing"./ppA mosaic was held up in the Kop spelling out Free Michael Now and the match-day
programme contained an article declaring the 22-year-old's innocence. "Liverpool fan Michael
Shields should be here at Anfield for tonight's game," it began. "Instead, he will be sitting in a
prison cell."/ppThe FA's concern is linked to the recent disciplinary case against the Ipswich
midfielder David Norris for supporting the former Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick. Norris
had been charged with improper conduct after making a handcuffs gesture in dedication to McCormick,
who had been sentenced to seven years in prison for causing the death by dangerous driving of two
young brothers./ppThe FA's disciplinary department fined Norris pound;5,000 and is alarmed that
Liverpool should also publicly back someone convicted of a serious crime and, in the process, open
themselves to allegations of playing judge and jury. /ppThe matter became a subject of controversy
on radio phone-ins yesterday and the FA will, at the very least, remind Liverpool that it does not
believe it is the club's role to take on such issues. "We are not comfortable about this," one
source told the Guardian./ppThere is also an element of concern as Liverpool, according to the FA,
had not informed the authorities of their plans. In 1997, their then striker Robbie Fowler was
fined 2,000 Swiss francs by Uefa for revealing a T-shirt expressing his support for the city's
sacked dock workers./pdiv style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;"ullia
