Apple released the iTunes top-seller and best-of lists
for 2008 this week, and Ask A Ninja was once again took
top honors on the “Classics” Video Podcast list. On the more traditional media side,
Gossip Girl was the top-selling TV season on iTunes while The Dark Knight
(which hasn’t even been released yet on iTunes) came in at No. 1 on downloaded movie chart.
Apple doesn’t spell out whether the video podcast list is editorially created or based on
hard numbers, but either way, new media shows are well represented on both the 2008 and Classics
video podcast lists. Making the cut this year are:

CLASSICS
Over on the oldteevee side of things, Gossip Girl Season 2 was the top-selling
TV season. Joss Whedon’s uber-popular Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
(which technically isn’t a TV show) also cracked the top 10, beating out shows like
House and Desperate Housewives. Of course, if
NBC’s iTunes numbers are any indication, none of these shows are being downloaded in
huge numbers.

now, can only be pre-ordered. Whereas you can kind of understand the popularity of certain shows
on the TV side, some of the top movie downloads are a bit unexpected. Sure, WALL-E and
Iron Man make sense, but Shooter? National Treasure 2: Book of
Secrets? Jumper? Really?

WhatSize 4.4.1 
WhatSize was one of the top selling utilities in the past year on MUPromo.
Especially if your Mac starts to get a lot of "stuff" on it, WhatSize helps find out what files
are taking up all of that space. Then it makes it really easy to remove or move those files.
You'd be surprised how many useless files are lying around on your Mac's hard disk. The files and
folders are automatically sorted by size, with the biggest sizes first.
While the app is measuring a folder the user can browse the files within that folder and
immediately see the size in bytes. Hidden files, cache files, directories will all show up with
their corresponding size. This application is similar to the ancient NeXTSTEP, DarkForest.
Once the measuring of a folder has ended the user can also view the information by filtering for
particular file sizes or types. The user can also move unwanted files and folder in the
corresponding Trash bin similar to the Finder's Delete button.

- Code fix to properly shut down the measuring thread. We were not stopping this thread and
thus causing unnecessary cpu usage.

align="left"While Sony and Microsoft dream of turning a profit on their consoles, Nintendo is doing
just that. According to a new article from a
href="http://www.forbes.com/technology/2008/11/28/nintendo-wii-wii2-tech-personal-cz-cs-1201wii.html"Forbes/a,
the Big N makes $6 in operating profit from every Wii unit sold. Nearly 19 million units have been
sold worldwide so far during 2008, earning Nintendo a tidy $114M in profit, taking that
$6-per-system figure into account. That's not the extent of the interesting numbers in the article,
though.br /br /Forbes points out that, while Nintendo is turning a profit on hardware, the fact
that its top-selling software is all first party means it is losing out on emserious /emrevenue
normally brought in via licensing fees. Still, according to its figures, the magazine claims that
there will be in the neighborhood of 100 million more pieces of Wii software sold in 2008 (220M)
than the nearest competitor, Xbox 360, at 125M (PS3 is on track for 120M). One has to wonder,
though, how many of those Wii games will be snagged from a bargain bin, given a

 Online sales jumped on Black Friday as consumers searched for
electronics such as the Wii video game console and Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch, according
to eBay Inc and Amazon.com Inc. Amazon.com and eBay had both forecast a weaker holiday this year
as consumers cut back on discretionary purchases. But U.S. shoppers are scouring the Internet and
stores for the best prices this season as they grapple with the worst economic crisis since the
Great Depression. PayPal, an online payments service owned by eBay, saw almost 34 percent more
transactions this Black Friday than a year earlier, eBay said on Saturday.
PayPal saw sales rise 26 percent on Black Friday, the day after the Thanksgiving holiday that
traditionally kicks off the U.S. holiday shopping season. PayPal said its sales numbers reflected
12 percent of all U.S. e-commerce. Black Friday is best known as the day consumers crowd shopping
malls, while greater online traffic is expected three days later on “Cyber Monday,”
when consumers use faster Internet connections at the office to make purchases. Overall Web sales
during the U.S. holiday season are expected to be flat at about $29 billion this year, according
to tracking firm comScore. Amazon.com said Apple Inc’s iPod touch was the top-selling
electronics item on Friday morning, followed by a Canon Inc PowerShot camera. Wii Fit and the Wii
console were the top-selling items in the video game category, while the LeapFrog Tag Reading
System was the best-selling toy.
