I have an iPhone jailbroken and unlocked with 2.0.2 on it. I want to put a custom background and dock on it..
I have some questions.
1) Which Windows program is best to use to SSH into the iPhone?
2) Where do I stick the wallpaper.png and dock.png files?
3) What app do I use to load the wallpaper and dock?

I found this wallpaper and think its awesome but its too small. I've tried making it bigger but it shows its pixels and get really ugly. Could someone help me with the wallpaper?

What is winterboard?

Winterboard is a theming application for the iPod/iPhone on 2.0. It allows you to change many many aspects of the iPhones interface, such as the icons, wallpaper and well all the images on the iPhone. A good thing for winterboard is that you can use the old summerboard themes aswell, just drop then in the themes folder(how to below)


Where do i get it?

You can get it from Cydia. There is no source you have to add, it should be there when you open cydia.

Its location on cydia is the System folder.


Why should i use this over customize?

You should use winterboard over customize because, its much easier to use. You can quickly pick a theme and close winterboard and see it instanly. Customize has many problems for many people, themes dont show, noting changes after you apply one. Winterboard does work, no problems, easy as pie.



Where can i get new themes for it?

In cydia, there are many themes for you to download. From Cydia, you can get full themes, sliders, carriers, wallpapers, sounds, keyboards, and what ever else you can change on the iPhone.

If you hit open the Themes(Summerboard) folder, you will see many winterboard themes in there. To see what theme you are downloading click on the "more information" bit and you should see some screenshots. You can choose to download it.

How do i install themes manually?

Open up your SSH client, Navigate to /Library/Themes. And there are the winterboard themes there. Simply drop the themes files in there, and open up winterboard to see them.


How Do i apply a theme i just downloaded?

This is the easy part. Simply open winterboard, click on the one you just downloaded. Then close winterboard. It shall respring and take you back to the lock screen. Unlock, and there we go.

Part 1: Basic Themes.

Making your own theme-Basic users:

The dimenions for making your theme: (credit to spoonforknife)

- Icon Dimensions: 60 by 60 pixels
- Background Dimensions: 320 by 480 pixels
- Dock Dimensions: 320 by 91 pixels
- Status Bar Dimensions: 320 by 20 pixels

Once you have created your theme, then you can put into the winterboard format shown above.

My first effort to make a brushed metal wallpaper for Ubuntu with Gimp. I simply wanted a wallpaper that suits the OSX theme. A wallpaper that is simple and a very much 'Ubuntu'. Ended up creating this one. Comments and suggestions appreciated :)

I was fed up of the wallpapers being so bland. I thought I would create something colorful and at the same time make the desktop bold and confident. Without trying to copy OSX or Vista. So I came up with this.

Mine is the vintage Apple Inc. logo with if found info in the middle. Show us what you have.
